PIT Commando – “Covert Military Force”

The sculpt for the PIT Commando is based, almost entirely, off the 25th Anniversary/Modern-Era Dusty figure that was released with the “Arise, Serpentor, Arise” DVD set in 2008. That figure was highly praised by the G.I. Joe community, and this figure looks to duplicate that success.

This includes the ‘skirt’ around the waist, to simulate a shirt tucked under a belt, the leg pouches, joints, and elbow pads as well.

The biggest benefit of using this mold is the extra waist articulation they created with the Dusty figure. Unlike most 25th/Modern-Era figures, this figure has a swivel joint installed directly above the waist, but below the chest joint commonly used on these figures. While not a huge addition, this allows the figure a bit more poseability, and articulation and that is always a welcome addition.

pit-commando04The upper body as a whole is sculpted very nicely, with defined shirt pockets, wrinkles, shirt collar, and built in elbow pads. The hands are adequately sculpted, they can hold most weapons and items with ease, though they feel like they were made with a lower quality of plastic than other figures hands, as the figures are very bendy, making it hard to hold some larger guns.

The lower body is also sculpted just fine, with decent leg pouches, BDU blousing above the boots, and well detailed black combat boots. There is no sculpted pistol holster though, which I thought would have been a nice addition since the figure comes with a black pistol.

The head sculpt is adequate, if barely, and is in the design of a very generic trooper. All of the PIT Commandos use the same head sculpt, so if you are planning on army building these, it may be good to have some extra heads laying around.

  1. These are great figures, but the last thing i need is an army builder for the Joe team. GI Joe, for a covert force, is already too large.
