The sculpt for the new Rise of Cobra EEL is exactly the same as the 25th Anniversary version released last year. From what I can tell, there is no changes to the figure other than a paint job.
This is not a bad thing for the most part. The original 25th Anniversary EEL was highly praised, and sought after.
The figure uses the normal G.I. Joe “diver” torso and legs, with unique lower arms and with the EEL head sculpt.
Everything is sculpted nicely, and I am glad that Hasbro finally re-released this figure, as so many people have wanted to get as many of these figures as possible.
All of the gear that the figure comes with fits snugly on the EEL, and is sculpted nicely as well, from the snap-on fins to the great re-breather system.
One complaint I do have is that the “knife holsters” on the upper legs do not allow the included knives to be fully inserted. This problem existed on the original 25th Anniversary EEL, so I am not surprised it was not fixed, but that would have been nice.
Overall I am pleased with the sculpt, I’ve seen it before, but what was good then is still good today. Again, it’s about time Hasbro released these, hopefully this time Target made them in large quantities!
