COBRA EEL with Wave Crusher – Target Exclusive

header_articulation

target-eel09With the Target Exclusive COBRA EEL being a complete repaint of the 25th Anniversary EEL, there are not a lot of differences OR improvements in the articulation of the figure. Many of the new Rise of Cobra figures feature improved articulation and construction.

Luckily, the COBRA EEL is not in dire need of any kind of articulation upgrades. The ‘diver’ body that the COBRA EEL is mainly composed of has great range of movement, with no gear or other attachments to get in the way.

target-eel12This comes in handy with the COBRA EEL, since it comes with the “Wave Crusher” aquatic vehicle. The good articulation allows the figure to “ride” the Wave Crusher in a variety of ways, without looking completely ridiculous.

I did notice that both my 25th Anniversary EEL and the new Target Exclusive EEL were a little stiff in the arm joints at first, but once I broke them in a little they move fine.

target-eel13With the only major difference between the 25th Anniversary EEL and the new Target Exclusive EEL being the revised paint job, how does it stand out?

Personally, I think it is FANTASTIC.

I always appreciated the 25th Anniversary EEL’s coloring due to the nostalgia factor, but I always did wonder why a Diver would wear a vibrant red wetsuit. This was nicely changed into a much more subtle black/gray/silver color scheme.

Hasbro even went so far as to weather the EELS forearm pieces and the dive harness. Very nicely done I might add!

The only other paint related change was the addition of some “neon green” to the figure. Initially fans were terrified what Hasbro was going to do to the figure, but I can safely say there is nothing to worry about. There is a small green strip on the back of the re-breather, on the underside of the spear gun and above and below the EELS mask. Personally I feel this would be a reasonably “friend or foe” identification system in murky water, so I’ve got no beef with neon… for once!
