As far as I know there are only two tanks produced by 21st Century that have “fully” detailed interiors. One is the incredible German Tiger Tank from World War II. Can you guess what the other one is?

Yes… this one. I’m sure you glanced ahead at the pictures anyway. Yes, this tank opens, just like the Tiger tank, the turret removes to reveal the interior. When I ordered the tank I had no idea this was going to happen. I thought I was paying thirty dollars for a tank shell with exterior details, like the Patton tank. When I cut the bulldog loose from its cardboard prison, you can imagine how ecstatic I was to find another piece with a detailed interior.

Again, just like the Tiger, I use the term “fully detailed” loosely. There aren’t driver’s controls and the whole thing is fairly rudimentary, but come on… IT OPENS UP!

On the inside of the turret the commander and the loader both have seats with direct access to the detailed gun breach. There is a small “bucket” for spent shells and what seem to be little circles on the floor where a ready to load magazine may sit. There is also a small bench (maybe?) next to the commander’s chair for what I can only assume is the gunner’s position. That would make the whole place a little crowded though, but a real tank is stuffy and crowded too.

The chassis interior isn’t that detailed, but the driver does get a seat, although he isn’t going to be sitting there with the hatch shut unless he didn’t like his upper half. The seat is mainly to say “we included a seat” and the driver can utilize it with the hatch open, but, as I mentioned, don’t expect to make it looks as if he is driving the tank with the turret pointed forward. You can see the indentations in the lower hull where the axles are sitting and two of the piece’s support pillars, where the two halves meet to be secured together.

At the rear of the interior there is a large wall separating the interior from the engine compartment. Oh, I’m sorry, what? Yes, there is a fully detailed engine compartment too. Has this tank impressed you yet? Not bad for a tank you probably didn’t know existed, right?

On the top of the tank, three large doors swing open to reveal the most detailed engine on any military toy I’ve ever seen, 1:18 scale or otherwise. When the doors swing open you are greeted by two huge fans that sit right above the detailed cylinders. Sitting alongside the engine are various other doodads that are all detailed as well.
