Happy 4th of July! 2 Year Anniversary! JSI F-14 Raffle!

Happy Fourth of July everyone! (In America, elsewhere, Happy Monday!)

Today marks the 2nd “official” birthday of our humble website. We really opened in May of 2009, but things were not settled in and ready to go until July, so we decided this will be our anniversary!

We’ve come a long way in 2 years, we are almost respectable in the community now! (Almost!) We’ve got some great news scoops from time to time, and have built a great community full of amazing customizing and diorama talent, as well as an appreciation for the greatest military collectable scale around (1:18, of course!).

Our goal from the beginning was to try and show people how awesome the 1:18th scale was, and how perfect it was to display really awesome military models etc. To that end the new G.I. Joe figures seem to fit in pretty well, especially with custom work done to them.

The 1:18th hobby right now is pretty stagnant, with only a few releases a year coming out (if we’re lucky!), but sites like this one show that there is still a vibrant community out there interested in these products, and hopefully we can continue to convince the powers that be that we want new and improved product!

So thanks to all of you, we are here for you and because of you.. we are completely member-funded, we do not do paid advertising, because we want to be able to do whatever we want, whenever we want it (And let you guys do the same!)

(If you’d like, please become one of our Officer-level members by donating! Info is here: http://forums.fighting118th.com/showthread.php?t=790 )

Now on to the FUN stuff!

One of our members has GRACIOUSLY donated a new 1:18th JSI F-14A “Jolly Rodgers” to the site to be raffled off to help with server costs and SDCC funds etc. This will be a two-week raffle with the name being pulled out on July 18th (Right before our SDCC coverage kicks off!).

All Officer-level members automatically are entered with one ticket, though they can buy more if they want to!

Here’s the gritty details!

The Rules:
1.) Open to all registered members of the Fighting118th.com’s forums living in the lower 48 states of the US. You must be able to send a Private Message (PM) from the forums to buy a ticket. All new members are welcome to participate.
2.) Tickets are $10 each with no limit on how many you can buy. To purchase a ticket, send a PM to pcsguy88 through the forums and I will send you a reply with instructions.
3.) Tickets are individually numbered (exactly the same as those from the school carnival). Once purchased, the number will be PM’d to you and your name will be written on the back of it before adding it into the jar.
4.) To avoid accusations of wrongdoing, my 5yr old daughter will be filmed drawing the tickets and video will be posted. If you have a problem with this method, do not buy a ticket.
5.) Ability to pay through PayPal is required. Legal name, forum user ID and email address must be provided with payment so I can match the payments to the PM’s requesting tickets and have a secondary way to contact you.
6.) I work all night and sleep all day, so response to PM’s will most likely come in the wee hours of the morning. Please give me 24hrs to respond before complaining. Please have some patience. I will do the best I can to keep up.
7.) By purchasing a ticket, you are agreeing to these rules whether you read them or not. If you didn’t read them, how did you know how to buy a ticket? Please do not buy a ticket if you feel we are going to cheat, this is for fun and I have no preference on who the winner is. If you win, you win and if you lose, you lose just like the lottery.

Good luck to everyone, happy 4th of July and thanks again!!
