R.U.S.E. Review

R.U.S.E. features a fairly decent soundtrack that you don’t pay much attention to during the heat of the battle.  The sound effects work with the game nicely.  The explosions,  fire,  vehicles and voice acting won’t blow you away however they are good enough to get the job done.

You play the entire campaign on the side of the Americans as Joe Sheridan.  You start as a Major early in the war and work your way to becoming a General and commanding your troops to final stages of WWII and beyond. As you play through the entire WWII,  you will be advised by a British Officer.  Your quest is to not only win the war but to stop a German Intelligence force.  You will experience important campaigns such as D-Day,  Operation Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge.

The story mode focuses on spies,  sabotage,  plot twists and the opportunity for WW3 with the Russians.  This was a nice touch but in my opinion some of this really wasn’t needed as they already had a great story going on with WWII.

With each new mission,  you will receive new troops, weapons and Ruses.  The game is broken up into 3 eras, 1939,  1942 and 1945.  Each era has their own set of units based on historical facts.  Tanks that weren’t in development yet can’t be used during the 1939 missions.
