X Review: “Dark Ninja”

 

First off, I would like to note that while these are going to be sold as ‘Dark Ninja’s on the packaging, I prefer to refer to them as Black Dragon Ninjas, because let’s face it, that’s what they are.

They’re a repaint of a repaint of a repaint of a… you get the idea. Don’t get me wrong… I like the Renegades Storm Shadow sculpt. I like it as a red ninja. Not so much as the dojo 3-pack red ninja. However, as a Black Dragon Ninja, I freaking LOVE it. I think this is possibly the best use for this sculpt, and Hasbro should have used the Amazon Renegades Storm Shadow for their initial release of Renegades Storm Shadow, saving this sculpt for this and the red ninjas.

Thankfully, these were a much more reasonable price online, so much so that I decided to get three for my collection. At least till they come to retail, which I believe is Wave 3, tentatively due around March. Yeah… so, anyway, why don’t I just dispense with the rest of my nonsense, and jump into the review. Packaging

Much like Firefly, I bought these from an overseas seller on Ebay. As such, they didn’t have much in the way of packaging for me to appreciate. Or take pictures of. Unlike Firefly, however, they did arrive in a plastic tray, with all the elastic bands and weapons settled into place. Since the tray was perfectly formed to the figure and accessories, I imagine these were probably taken off the line before they reached the rest of the packaging phase.

Either way you look at it, it’s a good sign that they are getting ready to ship these out. That means we may actually see these released in stores when they’re supposed to be!
