review-sculpt01

The sculpt is a reuse of the G.I. Joe Trooper from Wave 1, with a slight bit of resculpting for the neck to match the vest, and a new set of lower arms. It’s a good reuse of the sculpt, which will see a couple more reuses before the movie line is done, much like POC Wave 3 Snake Eyes and the Shock Trooper have.

One thing of note is that they’re still working on getting the actor’s likenesses right, and this one looks pretty spot on to Joseph Mazzello. We’ve obviously seen some that aren’t quite right, but this one is done really well. That and all the realistic looking creases, folds, pockets, and pouches just make this one of the better sculpts.

review-articulation01

Without the vest, articulation is better. With the vest, there’s some arm restrictions, and as it is, mine couldn’t bend a full 90 degrees at the right elbow so it made poses shouldering the marksman rifle rather difficult. Otherwise, though, it’s got the same great articulation of the G.I. Joe Trooper. Head, shoulders, elbows, new-wrists, torso, hips, double-knees, and rocker ankles.

One thing I ought to make clear is that the rocker ankles on these feet work better with the stands. The boots are thick enough to allow the pegs to sink deeper and hold the figure more firmly in place. The problem really lies in the ninja feet where there’s no substantial ‘shoes’ molded for the feet.
