Comics: Atomic Robo Vol. 1

Story

Atomic Robo, volume 1: Atomic Robo and the Fightin’ Scientists of Tesladyne reprints the first Atomic Robo series, issues #1-6. We’re introduced to the eponymous character through stories that take place throughout the life of “The Atomic Robot”. This is not an origin story (that comes later) but serves as an introduction to Robo, his team of Action Scientists (Tesladyne), and reoccurring antagonist Baron Heinrich von Helsingard. We see Robo fight and defeat Helsingard, only to have him return over and over throughout the years. We also get some mostly-unrelated adventures, either in flashbacks or in the back-up stories reprinted at the back of the book. It’s a solid, fun read that most should like (see above).

One of the best things about the Atomic Robo books is that they’re not written linearly, so the subject matter will bounce around in time. Consequently, you can read them in pretty much any order. I’m going to review them all in the order they were published, though.
