DOOM 3: BFG Edition Review

Doom 3 BFG-8The story mode will take you around 12 hours or so to complete. It’s set in the year 2145 on Mars. You are a Marine sent to a scientific research facility that has been studying teleportation, biological research and advanced weaponry. Through their research they have opened a gateway to Hell and have been overrun by Demons. You are put with the impossible task to stop them. You will travel through the entire research facility, spend some time on Mars and travel to Hell at one point.

Doom 3 BFG-4Doom 3 is mostly linear however you will have plenty of secrets to undercover. The story is told through cut scenes, dialogue with surviving scientists and security, radio transmissions, and your trusty PDA. The PDA is crucial to the game. You will upload key information, security cards and codes, emails and videos to not only understand the story but help you along the way.

Doom 3 BFG-9Doom 3 is a story driven game mixed in with horror sci fi elements. I will admit that it isn’t the greatest story ever told but it did fit the game and the series well. You will discover artifacts of a lost civilization and they made the teleportation to Hell story about as realistic as it could be. Before I get into one of my favorite topics of the game, I must remind you that this game is for a mature audience only. I’m very casual with letting kids play violent video games however this would be a exception. 17 years or older to play Doom 3.
