X Review: G.I. Joe Trooper

Paint is simple on this one. He’s molded in green primarily, with some silver applied to the knees. There’s touches of blues and reds and browns on the accessories, but that pretty much covers it. And like I’ve said in other reviews, I actually prefer more subtlety to the paint applications. It lasts longer when there’s less paint, giving more time to appreciate what you have.

The subtlety is diminished somewhat with the blue version, however, when you take into account the bright orange shovel and blue survival cloak. Granted, they’re molded in said colors, but still.

The G.I. Joe Trooper comes pretty loaded down. And unlike many figures that come with a lot, but have nowhere to store it all, this one does!

The vest is removable, and so is the dual sheath for the pair of combat knives. The backpack has four holsters for each of the four pistols, slots for the two rifles, and even leaves room for the shovel and gasmask. There’s also a grenade launcher, a second head with a mohawk, and the survival cape that matches the color of the collar.

  1. Great review! I’ve never seen these (or any other Retaliation figure) on Australian pegs.

  2. I’ve said this before, but I really think this figure was meant for the 30th line or elsewhere and was repurposed into the movie line – that’s the only reason I can think of for the big disparity in articulation between this and any other non-ninjas in wave one.
