X Review: Duke

review-sculpt01

Half of this sculpt is the same one used later on in waves 2 and 2.5 for Flint and Alley Viper. It’s only worked on one of these characters, and neither Duke or Flint are it. It’s still that weird armor-and-flightsuit in one, and still fails to have a good hold of either idea. It just looks clumsy and is hardly better than the 5 POA sculpts we got as vehicle drivers. The torso is the only decent piece of the whole thing, and it only works on the Alley Viper. I know that G.I. Joe has to evolve, but nothing in this sculpt says Duke. Not even the vague likeness to Channing Tatum.

I give them an E for effort though, with trying to make it look decent with straps and buckles, creases and folds, and the armored torso. Still meh, but they gave it the old college try!

Also, Channing Tatum makes a terrible Duke.

review-articulation01

Because the sculpt sucks, the articulation suffers. Sure, he’s got most everything else at at least the basic 25th Anniversary level, but the lack of ankles and single-knee joints make the baby Jesus sad. Do you see what you’ve done, Hasbro? You’ve made the baby Jesus cry.

Head, shoulders, elbows, swivel-wrists, torso, hips, single-knees. A couple POA less and he could be a practice dummy.
