X Review: Cobra Commander

review-sculpt01

All in all, the sculpt isn’t half bad. You got this battle helmet inside a snake mouth motif, and an outfit that looks suitable for commanding POC Shock Troopers from the front line. The arms have some great layered armor plates, as does the right shoulder and both shins. You get some nice detail work with straps and creases in the fabric, even the bloused pants at the knees where they’re tucked into the boots.

It is, for the record, exactly like its single-carded counterpart, which was released in both black and blue. Accessories are the main difference, where the single-carded release comes with that goofy missile firing staff.

review-articulation01

The articulation, however, isn’t outstanding. Honestly, you’d think with a special release they’d do something different than the single-carded versions. Again, you people who think cobra commander doesn’t need double-knees and ankles, I respectfully declare that you have no idea what you’re talking about. Sure, he doesn’t need to pull off a double-jump-spin-kung-fu-kick, but he needs to be able to move, and his lower body just looks stiff and ineffective.

Head, shoulders, elbows, swivel-wrists, torso, hips, single-knees.
