Joe Con 2013 Recap

We arrived on Thursday night and went straight to registration and breezed through that in 5 minutes, apparently most everyone was already in line. We arrived at the club store line about an hour after our designated line up time and were towards the end. The line moved pretty quickly and we were into the actual store area within 2 hours.

I had decided to get one of all the exclusives and had already preordered a boxed and bagged set as well as shirts for myself and my son. When I saw them sitting on the shelf, I made an impulse decision to buy one of the October Guard sets from last year. As I have stated before I am not a huge collector of the modern stuff, but that October Guard set was just too cool to pass up. I really wanted to pick up some of the protective cases for my 25th collection, but that OG set was pricey, so I had to let some stuff go.

I decided later to sell the bagged set, I had originally planned to give it to my son and keep the boxed set for myself. Overall the whole club store exclusive experience was fun, but the sticker shock really smarted. I haven’t really had a chance to get everything out and play with it yet, but I believe the Night Boomer is my favorite. The Flak is really cool and my son absolutely loves the KREO set. I also really like the Lady J and Iceberg, I am not a perfectionist on the details and enjoy the card art as much or more than the figure inside the blister.

The Nightforce concept came along after I had lost interest in the original Joe line, but it is funny how you can still have a nostalgic feeling about something even though you do not have a connection to it. I guess glow in the dark paint and decals help, they really bring the kid out in everyone.
