Iron Man 3 Review

Iron Man 3 starts off with a scene in Switzerland in 1999 setting up an introduction for one of the movies antagonists. After that is setup it jumps forward to the present and introduces us to the Mandarin via Youtube like videos. Mandarin’s videos come off just like Osama Bin Laden’s videos. Very deliberate speech with hidden and open warning and threats. These scenes were some of my favorite scenes in the beginning of the movie and had me pumped right away for the final showdown.

After the villain is setup, we get a great scene where Stark, after being asked by a reporter, basically calls Mandarin out.  Boy does the pace quicken shortly thereafter and leads to the destruction of Starks house as seen in the previews. I got to tell you, that scene is intense and I love the new armor and how he can use it. After that scene the movie really slowed down for me and the truth behind Mandarin is eventually revealed. I did not like this reveal and it almost ruined the movie for me.

After more slow times in the movie without any armor being used, but still has witty dialogue, we get the final battle. This battle and all the suits used in it, redeems this movie for me. I thought they ended it very well. Slightly sad by the end but you will need to see it to find out why. Or read my spoilers on the next page.

All in all, Iron Man 3 turned out to be a solid movie for me, I give it a 7 out of 10 stars. This one dipped for me because of the personal dislike of the use of Mandarin.
