X Review: FSS Iron Klaw

review-sculpt01

It’s a great use of sculpts that they had available. Iron Klaw uses the torso from Destro v14, and the arms and legs from the Iron Grenadier Destro, v16. With these choices, they gave him a bulky upper frame, and some shiny leather thigh high European dictator’s boots. There’s an unfortunate hole in the middle of his chest, but the webgear covers it up just fine.

The head is altogether new, along with the beret that is fitted to this head only. Unfortunately, it’s a bit shallow and doesn’t stay firmly in place. Without the beret, Iron Klaw’s head seems weirdly small and misshapen, but with it on, it seems to be just fine. The removable beret is a nice touch, but unnecessary, and could have just been part of the head sculpt.

review-articulation01

As with Iron Grenadier Destro, articulation is surprisingly good. It has its faults, mostly focused in the arms where the elbows won’t hit 90 degrees. Despite being that single-jointed knee, there’s always been a fair amount of movement there, and coupled with the ankle joint, it’s leaps and bounds above the crap that was offered the first couple Retaliation waves.

Head, shoulders, elbows, swivel hands, torso, hips, single-knees, and ankles. Sure, there could have been more, but for his role, I think what he was given more than suffices, and Iron Klaw doesn’t suffer from the lack of 30th+ articulation.

Nice Review. Not sure what I think of the figure, but definitely has some customizing potential.
