X Review: Kumite Training Set

This set comes with a weight bench, barbell and weights, two dumbbells, heavy bag and stand, makiwara, jump rope, and a floor mat. Perfect for your ‘roided out Cobra trainers, or martial artists honing their skills. For me, I think this will definitely be my custom Big Boa’s domain.

Let’s start out with the weight bench. It’s the perfect size for normal sized figures, and as you can see, it accommodates larger figures as well. Watch as Big Boa demonstrates to the Cobra trainee how to lift weights properly:

Next up is the barbell and the dumbbells, which Big Boa will model for us. The weights do come off, so you can have as many or as few as the bars will allow:

Here we have the heavy bag, which is probably Big Boa’s favorite. Unlike those weak Cobra trainees, he can punch this to his heart’s content, and it will never complain:

Here’s a few shots of the makiwara, which is great for all the ninjas that we’ve gotten lately:

Finally, here’s some action on the mat. I call this “Jumprope with Storm Shadow” and “Beating the crap out of a featherweight”:

This is a really killer set, and adds to the number of dioramas you can come up with on indoor shots. I’m quite pleased with what I paid for, and Daremo’s work is really top notch. Obviously, you want to take care with something like this, but nothing feels flimsy. The chains for the heavy bag are real chain, all the connections on the bench and stand seem very solid. It should stand up to careful play for posing and shooting photos, but it’s definitely meant for the adult collector and not for children and rough play.

In addition, I want to say that I feel very lucky to have gotten this set when I did. As it’s been increasingly difficult for Daremo to find the foam bits and pieces he uses for the weights and the heavy bag, what I have may be the last one he makes for quite some time. That makes me doubly appreciate the time and effort he put into this, and that he agreed to sell it to me.

He’s also got a site HERE where you can find loads of his tutorials on how to make anything from this weight set to ninja hoods! Check it out! And most importantly, thank you, Daremo, for sharing your talent with the community!
