Comics: Hawkeye Vol. 1

Story

What, didn’t you read the infographic? Fine. I’ve read other reviews describing Hawkeye as a low-rent James Bond title, and I’m not above stealing that and using it.

Most of the book is made up of stand-alone stories; there’s one two-parter that has Hawkeye trying to recover the tape where he kills (“murders” is the word used) the world’s most notorious terrorist. The stories are grounded, street-level stuff, where the character should be.

It’s fun, it’s funny, and it doesn’t take itself too seriously, even when handling serious stuff.

The last story in the book takes place chronologically first – it’s the story of the new Hawkeye (Kate Bishop, from the Young Avengers) meeting the old Hawkeye (Clint Barton).

Barton’s not even in costume for most of the book (save for the covers and the last issue, where he’s in his Ronin garb).
