Burbank G.I.Joe & Toy Show

Recap from Duffmann:

This was my 4th Burbank show and by far my best experience. I was a dealer this year and people came out and spent money and that was great. James Desimone is the person who hosts the show and before Brian Savage was the GI Joe collectors club. He is in fact the person responsible for the GI Joe Jinx Exclusive back in 1993 with the cape. He was the collectors club until Hasbro took it from him and than it eventually went to Fun Pub.

This years show was great, there was tons of people selling and lots of new vendors and that was great to see. One of the vendors brought a costume cobra Terror Drome and also had other customs like a Tiger Force Skystriker that looked great. Usually at this show me and Ron Austin sell more 12 inch items but this year we did mainly 3 3/4 and sales were great. I believe the next show is in May 2014 and we plan to bring about 50/50 as there are lots of 12 inch collectors that go to this show. The event is held in the Ramada Inn and the space is pretty tight but it works out nicely. It is an older Hotel and James who runs the show would love to host it in a nicer location but due to health reasons, the Ramada Inn is 5 minutes from his house and it is just easier for him to get it done. The show was from 9am to 2pm and the early bird started at 8am. The crowd was great and started dying off at around 1pm so 2 was the perfect time to clean up and head home.

All in all the show was great. I have attached a website of James Desimone and you can read all about the beginnings of the GI Joe club it’s great history and I think others should know about it. James did a lot and in a sense is the founding father of the club that we have today.
