Like the Commander, the paint is minimal, focusing on the details of the uniform, webgear, and in the face to help differentiate him from his comrades. Still, it’s effective for what it is and what it does, and that’s creating a fairly realistic looking german soldier in a 3.75″ toy.
The soldiers come loaded down a bit more than their commander, which makes sense since they’re doing the brunt of the dirty work. The Rifleman comes with his MP40, a pair of stick grenades, a knife, helmet, pouch, webgear, and a stand. There’s lots of small detail to be found, and it’s nice to have all of it to add to the figure.
The webgear is not immediately removable, and I wouldn’t suggest trying to remove it unless you have some ability with customizing small figures because the glue is strong where it holds against the figure’s back, and the webgear isn’t the rubbery plastic we’re used to with GI Joe figures. Instead it’s a stiff, almost unyielding plastic, which can crack easily if you’re not careful. The nice thing here is where most of the other soldiers’ webgear has smaller pouches, this one is fitted with extra ammo pouches for the MP40, which is a nice touch.
Well I will give the set a try. eBay 79.99.
