WonderCon Anaheim Day 1 Coverage

Day 1 Recap from Ctrl Z:

WonderCon Day-1 was a lot of fun. It seems like WonderCon in Anaheim has already gained a lot of popularity since last year (it’s first year in Anaheim) due to the fact that Saturday and 3-Day badges were sold out. The word is that WonderCon’s becoming the go-to con for those unable to attend San Diego Comic Con, so I expect it to get busier and busier with the coming years.

When checking out the dealer hall I saw a lot of commercial booths and independent ones, much like San Diego ComicCon, however I noticed a lack of Hasbro, Marvel and Warner Bros. to name a few. It’s not that big of a deal as there’s still a lot to do.

As well as comics and collectibles to buy, there were plenty of cosplayers to check out and panels to sit in on. And if you’re feeling hungry, they had a few food trucks parked up near the convention center for you to get your grub on. The food trucks seem to be slowly becoming a staple at most conventions and it’s a welcomed one at that, providing more of a variety of food than you would get otherwise. Because let’s face it, convention center food is overpriced for what you get.

Day-1 for me centered around attending the Regular Show panel since I was unable to attend it at SDCC ’12. Apparently it’s that popular. To get good seats we had to sit in on the 2 previous panels, one of which included a panel for Beauty and the Beast where I got to see Kristin Kreuk talk about the show and her part in it as Catherine Chandler, which she says she liked better than her role as Lana Lang in Smallville. … Hmm. It now occurs to me that I should have asked about her thoughts on her part as Chun-Li in Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. Oh well.

The wait for the Regular Show panel was well worth it, as we got hear the writers and voice actors speak about the show, what’s (maybe) to come and we got FREE CAKE! FREE CAKE! (RS joke) to celebrate the recent 100th episode. It’s a shame that J.G. Quintel, the creator of the show and voice of Mordecai couldn’t be there, but it was still a great panel over all. Check out Regular Show on Cartoon network if you haven’t, it’s seriously a great show. Especially if you like 80’s references.

Day-1 was awesome and I can’t wait to see what day-3 has to offer.

A very nice recap from Crtl Z.  Check out the gallery on Page 3!

The little dude in the Ironman costume takes it. The painted on mustache and goatee craked me up. Looks like a good time.
