Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes Review

The first impression you will get from Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes is the amazing graphics. During the games opening I was blown away by the detail and effects. I’m very confident in saying that this title has the best graphics that I’ve ever witnessed, at least at this very moment in time. I played the game exclusively for the Playstation 4 however I have read impressions from all systems and even those systems with lesser power were able to produce a stunning game.

Now on to the bread and butter of every Metal Gear game, the campaign. I’m sure you’ve heard by now that Ground Zeroes is very short in game play time. I finished my first play through in just over 90 minutes. I admit that is discouraging at first however you have so much more to do in the game. You have an overall completion rate and after that first play through I was only 10% complete.

I’ll discuss these later on.

The entire campaign is on a American black site on Cuban soil named Camp Omega. You must infiltrate the camp and complete a few orders. For the first time in the history of Metal Gear, you are in a open world. You have total freedom on where to go and what to do. I’ve honestly grown tired of sandbox games but for this title, it works brilliantly. It helps that Camp Omega isn’t a huge area like a GTA city. The camp is decent in size and you have plenty of ground to cover but it’s not overwhelming.
