Default Election day...

Ok, so I'm reading up on what each of the candidates really stand for, you know, like a good little member of a democracy. And I find myself falling on the side of the democrats on far too many issues for my liking. I'm still fiscally conservative... but when it comes to social and environmental issues, I feel like I'm getting more liberal with age. It's supposed to be the other way around!

Lower Taxes and Balanced budget - Republican 100%

Strong Military - Republican 100%

Small/Limited Government - Republican 100%

Clean Energy - who is not for this? Republicans apparently... big oil?! WTF. Anything that will allow us to stop caring about foreign oil so we can tell the camel jockeys to go fuck themselves is a major plus in my book. I'm not a tree-hugger, but energy independence makes sense from a geopolitical standpoint.

Abortions - I don't give a fuck. I'm not in the business of telling anyone what to do medically, and so I can't get on-board with the evangelical crowd. They're probably going to revoke my Southern Baptist card.

Net Neutrality - This is a bigger issue for me than most of the others (I don't know why). I can't see how anyone could be against neutrality, but according to what I'm reading, the damn republicans want to neuter the FCC. This is one of the few times I agreed with Obama. Giving Comcast/Time Warner/Verizon the power to regulate what does and doesn't get adequate bandwidth on the internet seems like the worst idea in the history of time. And yet only the democrats want to stop this from happening?

I'm not convinced that any candidate on either side is technical enough to even understand the issue. Kankles can't turn on her phone and thinks her home server can withstand chinese hackers, and the Orange Clown thinks we can just turn off part of the internet, you know, the part used by bad guys (ugh). These people are all fucking morons. My nine-year-old has more technical sense than these fucktards.

I'm at my wits end. I voted for Rubio today, but I doubt he'll do more than delay the inevitable. In a Clinton-Trump showdown, I can't think of two people less suitable to be president. I'm not normally a "politics" guy, but I genuinely fear what will happen when one of these halfwits is in charge. I've never been so conflicted, knowing that the only choices are "really bad" and "probably worse".

That Trump and either of those tools on the left are legitimate candidates says all that needs saying about the electorate. All part of the plan.

Stressing out for nothing. They already know the winner.

Maybe you can see this one?

Not being in a swing state, I understand the reality of the situation. But I still like to hold the delusion that my vote matters. And I am troubled that my choices, no matter how rigged, are so fucking awful.

(yes, I could see that one!)

I saw that show when it aired on tv, which only further my reasons why I don't vote.

For the most part, Dems are secretly for the same things Reps are for. Anything the corporations are looking for, throw in some ridiculous social issues that get the low hanging fruit to the polls, wash, rinse, repeat. If not, why do the same people give them huge chunks of money? Basically, the Dems job is to rally all of the progressives behind them and then shrug their shoulders because "we missed the vote count by THAT much. Why you Republicans, bought and paid for by the same corporations we're bought and paid for. Just wait until we win back the House in 8 years.... wink wink go on and keep gerrymandering nudge... nudge..."

It's basically why Sanders is having the same Trump effect with less beatings at rallies.

BTW, Romney says he's not running but he refiled his campaign group with the elections committee last month.

I don't like Trump, but he has a point when he asks why the hell Romney is resurfacing all of a sudden. He didn't have a strong run four years ago, and I'm seriously unclear why he thinks that he's relevant now. And I certainly don't think he speaks for most republicans.

At this point, I'm going to echo Dennis Miller's sentiments last week. The november ballot might as well say "Clinton" and "Not-Clinton". I'm voting "Not-Clinton" even if the orange clown is the nominee. I won't like it, but I'll hold my nose and press the button.

What's amazing is in the national polls, Trump is the only one Clinton is beating and only by 5%. Trump has the worse numbers as it pertains to the general election, as does Clinton and they are leading their parties.

That only works if people listen to Romney, and at this point, when did he become the wise old sage of the republican party? He's a failed has-been that nobody has heard from in four years, and all of a sudden he rides in out of nowhere acting like his opinion REALLY matters. I have news for him...

That might be exactly his intention, but I think he grossly overestimates how much his opinion matters, and seems to have no grasp of how completely irrelevant he is.

If they trot him out to "save" the party, I can guarantee he does even worse than he did in '12.

Absolutely. It would be a disaster. I like Mitt just fine, but he missed his chance, and if they try to run him out in front of whatever candidate gets the plurality, it'll be worse than just letting it play out.

As I've said, I'm not crazy about Trump, but I think at this point, it would be foolish to assume that he couldn't beat HRC. The polls don't mean much at this stage, and every time he does something that would get any other candidate crucified, he seems to come out stronger. Will it last? Who knows, but I would have thought he'd have imploded by now.

Just to provide an example of how we're screwed. In 2014, Congress had a 10% approval rating. In 2014, 95% of congressional incumbents won their districts.

If I can find the Washington Post article on their non-biased overall of our elections that would signal true revolution, not the Sanders or Trump kind, I'll repost it here.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opini...571_story.html

I believe this article is very non-partisan and hits at the core. I would even extend that our screwed form of a republic based government feeds into the disenfranchisement of the perpetrators of mass murder. Day in, day out frustrations and confusion as it pertains to one's relationship to one's community can have a devestating effect and help create extremist paranoia. Not saying it would solve everything and we would never have a riot again, but more instituted transparency would reconnect with people.

While giving the masses more power would be nice, it'll never happen. "They" want more control, not less.

Yepper. Because it all hinges on them agreeing that this is better. I don't think there's a way in hell you could bring it to SCOTUS.

He lost me at the 17th amendment being a good thing. No, he lost me at letting the stupid motherfuckers in this country pick anything through "simple majority voting", I just decided to see how far down the rabbit hole he'd go.
