COBRA EEL with Wave Crusher – Target Exclusive

target-eel08The Target Exclusive COBRA EEL, unlike some of the OTHER “Diver” figures released with the G.I. Joe line lately, actually looks like a competent and qualified diver. This is largely due to the wonderful diving-related accessories that Hasbro has included with the figure.

One of my favorite pieces, the EEL comes with a great diving helmet with a see-through front visor. The helmet fits the figure like a glove and looks great on and off the figure. Great ominous coloring this time around as well!

The whole re-breather apparatus is wonderfully made and executed. It looks function, and even has hoses and a mouthpiece that attaches to the mask. This is really an all around win. The only thing I would have like to seen incorporated into the backpack would be a place to attach the diving fins when not in use, but that’s really a personal nitpick!

The EEL also comes with his traditional spear gun and two diving knives, a formidable foe indeed!

The new Target Exclusive EEL also comes with the “Wave Crusher”, which appears to be a small submersible vehicle. It is not a bad addition, as it does not look completely ridiculous, and the EEL fits on it perfectly well.

The Wave Crusher has one spring loaded missile that loads in the front, and fires with a button on the bottom of the move-able control piece. The vehicle can take on two different forms, for reasons I can’t figure out, but it can do it!

The Wave Crusher comes with a small sticker sheet, and I applied them as best as I could, as they are very small stickers!

target-eel03The COBRA EEL with Wave Crusher comes in the standard Target Exclusive “Deluxe Figure” packaging, which is actually pretty nice.

It has a large G.I. JOE logo at the top, and a large window display for the figure below. On the left side is the “artwork” for the product, and I really like the job they did for the COBRA EEL.

To open the box, there is two pieces of tap on either side of the box, if you cut those, the whole top opens up and you can easily remove the plastic insert with the figure and vehicle. Once you remove the figure and vehicle you can place the plastic insert back into the box for safe-keeping, if you are the type who likes to keep boxes around!

I really like the fact that you can open these without completely destroying the packaging. Bravo!
