The M-41 was standardized in 1951 and production began by GMC and later at Cleveland Arsenal.  Although the M-41 was issued in mid 1952, it was regarded as too late and none were sent to Korea.  Most units received the new Walker Bulldog in late 1952-53 and they were very well liked. The M-41 was a “user friendly” tank that was very dependable, extremely maneuverable, was extremely fast, easy to handle and had plenty of stowage space. The driver had four large periscopes and has very good vision even with the hatch closed.

The traverse was powered but gun elevation/repression was manual.

The United Stated never used the M-41 in combat. It served well throughout the world as a very fine reconnaissance tank and In Viet Nam was used very effectively by the South Vietnamese Army.
