Modern Warfare 3 Review

The best part about the multiplayer is it’s so easy to get into. The controls are the same as the last 4 COD’s and it really only takes a few matches to get used to the game. Once you have learned the maps you can begin to dominate the opposition. It’s a wonderful feeling after a match to see your name on top of a leader board and hearing people whine on the mic about how you slaughtered them with your B-2 Bomber. The only downfall to this mode is it’s very addicting and after a month or so of steady playing, your dying for some new maps.

When your first playing, you might think I’m crazy making that statement with 16 maps available however it doesn’t take long to learn them and after a few play sessions you will have already determined your favorite maps. A new Map Pack is scheduled to be release in late January. My favorite map is Dome, your at a small outpost in the desert. The action is fast and frantic. Arkaden is another fun map, in this map your in a German mall. It’s easy to get distracted by the scenery but you better watch your back. Another favorite of mine is a large African Village that is simply titled Village. Village is a great map for all game modes.

Other maps will take you to a Russian Ghost Town, Siberian Air base, a small Subway Station and a small Asian market.A new edition to the COD Franchise is the Elite mode simply titled Call of Duty: Elite. This is a free / subscription based service that is exclusively to multiplayer game modes that keeps track of your lifetime stats across many COD games. As of right now the games it recognizes are Black Ops and MW3. In order to get all the features of Elite you must pay the subscription fee of $49.99.

This will allow you early access to Down Loadable Content, gain access to Elite TV, and win virtual and real life prizes among other things. In order to use Elite, you must download a console app for your PS3 or 360. I have personally avoided the Elite service. With COD’s track record of already charging a fairly high price for their DLC compared to most games, an additional $50 a year isn’t something that I’m interested in. We’ve heard rumors for years that COD could become a “pay to play” game in the future. It sounds crazy however if they spin it right, paying $9.95 a month to play COD online isn’t a far stretch and the millions of gamers would mostly agree to this service. My personal opinion is the Elite service is the first step towards a “pay to play” service that is invitingly coming.
