Homefront Review

Homefront does a wonderful job capturing the dramatic experience of this horrific alternate universe that could actually become a reality some day.  When your player dies or you come across a load screen they show a flashback that is sad and troubling.

As you complete the Campaign Mode you will find 61 Newspapers spread across the maps.  Just like most FPS games these Newspapers are your Intel and describe the back-story of the past 15 years.  Taking the time to read these will really help the story sink in.

Reading this over you might be thinking that this game is over the top.  The U.S. is the most powerful nation and has the most allies yet they are being completely destroyed by Korea?  I must admit that I didn’t find it very believable either until I started playing and understanding the full story.

The story mode is most certainly controversial.  In the original vision of the game,  the designers had plans of China being the enemy however this was denied and they went with Korea.  Homefront also predicted the death of Kim Jong il a full year before he really died.  Korea also has plans to send a satellite into space much like they do in the game.

The only complaint I have with the story mode is the length.  It’s only 7 chapters long and your first play through will take you roughly 5 hours.  Obviously if you plan on collecting all the Newspapers and Trophies/Achievements you will spent much more time playing it.
