Homefront Review

Before we get into the Multiplayer,  I want to discuss the graphics and controls.  The controls are perfect for a FPS.  This game feels identical to a Call of Duty game.  You have the exact same layout and any experienced FPS gamer will be able to jump right in and feel like they have been playing the game for years.  This makes me happy as I have stated in the past,  the perfect FPS control scheme is the one that CoD has created.

The graphics really need some work.  They aren’t awful,  however they aren’t very good either.  Understanding that this is a THQ game and they aren’t known for big budget games,  I was forgiving.  I was so pleased with the story and controls that I bragged about the game to a few friends of mine.  They picked up the game shortly after and they weren’t as forgiving as me.

I don’t like to judge games just on graphics.  If you have a top notch story,  great controls and if it’s fun to play,  I’m happy.  However I must admit that the graphics in Homefront do bother me and will affect the overall rating.

The Multiplayer mode takes place before the US Forces were scattered.  In Multiplayer you have two basic modes that have KPA forces battling US forces.  The two modes are Capture and Hold and Team Deathmatch.  Despite the limitations in Multiplayer I found myself really enjoying it.

The first thing that stands out is the map selection.  I never found a map that I didn’t like which always seems to happen in FPS games.  The maps have a good mixture and fighting on a demolished USA was fun and unique.
