Killzone 2 Review

The Campaign will send you on 10 missions that will have a wide variety of objectives and checkpoints.  The Campaign will take you around 10 hours to complete on your first play thru.  Of course the game supports Trophies and you will want to experience the story at least once more.  I have played the campaign all the way through 3 times.

You will experience some vehicle combat using a Tank and Exoskeleton.  You also have several turrets in the game.  Killzone 2 features a lean and peak cover system that allows you to stay covered and quickly pop out to fire at the Helghast.  This is a must,  if you don’t stay covered and run out into a open battlefield,  you won’t live very long.

Your ISA squad is very helpful in the Campaign and you are rarely left alone.  They do a good job using cover fire,  getting kills and assisting you will your objectives.  It’s a welcome change in a FPS.  As you fight your way through the thrilling large scale battles,  challenging boss fights and fast paced action in this futuristic shooter,  you will notice one significant thing.  This game is fun!

The enemies in the campaign are intelligent.  As you fire on a Helghast soldier,  he will duck for cover and patiently wait before peaking around the corner.  The enemies will try to flank you on the battlefield,  provide cover fire for each other as they advance and when they see a threat like a grenade they quickly scatter for cover.  This rare intelligence in a AI is appreciated and challenging.
