Medal of Honor: Frontline Review

Frontline also has one major flaw that I can’t believe wasn’t improved during the HD remake.  No check points!  I’ve been gaming for over 20 years and looking back,  most of the classic games of old didn’t have check points because they had no way to implement them.  However being spoiled in the current crop of gaming and trying to complete a game with no check points is frustrating.  Very frustrating.

Trying to complete Frontline on the hardest difficulty became tiresome as whenever you died,  you had to go all the way back to the beginning of the mission and start all over.  I screamed at the TV and threw my controller on more than 1 occasion and I’m very unsatisfied with the lack of checkpoints that I think should have been added.

Another disappointing feature of the game is the controls.  Frontline has the option of using the classic original controls which I highly recommend not to do. Thankfully they have a “modern” control configuration that you can use which I of course did.  I really appreciate the “modern” control scheme however this scheme is still flawed and should have been more user friendly to a FPS.  They already took the time to add the feature,  they could have done it right.

Another highlight of the game is the Audio.  The title music is perfectly matched as well as the rest of the soundtrack. The explosions,  artillery and gun fire feel real.  The inclusion of foot steps,  real German dialogue,  top notch voice acting and realistic vehicle sounds make Frontline’s audio enjoyable.
