Killzone 3 Review

The first DLC that was released shortly after the games release and was originally a pre order bonus.  Simply titled “Retro Map Pack”,  it contains 2 of the most popular KZ2 maps redone in KZ3 graphics and also features 7 trophies.

The next DLC was available shortly after the first and was called “Steel Rain”.  This DLC added 2 more maps including one that allowed you to use Exos and Jetpacks as well as 7 more trophies.  The final DLC was released during the summer of 2011 and was loaded with 13 new trophies.  Titled “From the Ashes”,  you get 4 new online maps.  2 of the maps are retro maps from KZ2.

Killzone 3 has a vast online experience that has a almost cult like following.  With hours and hours of replay value,  this game is still going strong and has done something that I don’t believe I’ve ever seen before.  Sony recently released an Online Only mode that you can purchase on the Playstation Network.

For $14.99 you can purchase the online portion of Killzone 3.  This comes with all of the previously released DLC,  the 8 maps that came with the original game and the botzone mode.  This is a great alternative for the gamers who choose to only play online although I do recommend playing the single player campaign.

Overall I really enjoyed Killzone 3 and I’m looking forward to the eventual release of a 4th game.  After playing the last 2 games in the series,  I’m fully invested in the characters,  worlds and the long standing war.  KZ3 isn’t perfect as the story is somewhat predictable,  too short for my liking and the lack of Co Op Campaign mode hurts the score.  The intense battles on amazing levels,  astonishing visuals,  terrific online mode and extensive replay value overshadow the few faults in the game.  The exclusive PS3 game earns a 9 out of 10 and continues to be one of the best FPS franchises of this era.
