Much like the first game, one of my favorite parts of Resistance 2 is the weaponry. You have classics from Fall of Man like the trusty Carbine and several different types of grenades. The weapons are a mixture of human technology circa 1950’s and alien technology. Unlike Fall of Man you can only carry two weapons at a time in this game.
A new edition to the franchise is a 2-8 player Online Co Operative mode. I’m a huge fan of Co Op modes and really enjoyed this feature. You are part of a special team called Spectre and you battle the Chimera during a gap in the single player campaign set during 1952-53.
In the Co Op mode you have the chance to play as 3 different classes as you fight off hordes of Chimera. You can play as a Medic who provides health and draining abilities, a Special Ops class who can provide ammo and uses long range weapons or Soldiers who are meant to absorb and deal large amounts of damage. I personally preferred the Soldier class.
The missions are played on several different maps and require teamwork and a great amount of skill to achieve victory. By completing these missions you will earn experience and currency that can be used to purchase upgrades like weapons and abilities.
