Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Review

The visuals are still very impressive but I do think it might be time for Activision to step up and improve their game engine.  It’s very apparent that they have been running the same engine for the last 5 years or so.  They hold up very well to current games but to say they are the best around would be a lie.  Comparing Black Ops 2 to a Halo 4 or even Uncharted 3 would be unjust.

The audio portion of Black Ops 2 is another victory. Fantastic voice acting once again brings you into the story. The sounds of explosions, gun fire, chatter between friends and foes and of course Zombies truly adds to the experience.  I will say that I was a tad disappointed with the soundtrack in this title.  Nothing really stood out to me and wasn’t nearly as memorable as the first game.

Now onto the meat of the game,  the multiplayer mode. When you first start playing Black Ops 2 online you will notice some new menus and subtle tweaks but the core game is still there and that’s a good thing… No a great thing!

All the familiar game modes are present like Team Deathmatch, Free for All, Capture the Flag, Domination, and Search and Destroy etc.  A new mode titled Hardpoint where you capture specific points and then try to defend them for as long as you can.  My favorite mode is still the classic Team Deathmatch.

You still have a wide variety of intriguing Maps to start off with.  You have smaller maps like the pre-order bonus Nuketown 2025 which was a extremely popular map from the first game and my personal favorite titled Hijack where your on a cruise ship in international waters.  Bigger maps like Express are also available located in Los Angeles.
