Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Review

A game mode that I’m currently addicted to is Chaos Moshpit which was added in the Bonus section after the 24/7 Nuketown was removed which apparently was a promotional mode for the first week(even though nobody knew it was limited).  Chaos Moshpit has a limited Map play list with mostly smaller maps like Nuketown 2025, Carrier, Cargo and Slums etc.  You also have rotating game modes that make it even more exciting.

The biggest change in the online play is the new Pick 10 system.  You now have full customization over your loadout.  You have 10 choices.  If you want to carry nothing but a pistol and load up on perks and grenades,  you can.  If you want to rock your M27 assault rifle with 3 attachments and carry no side arm or perks,  you can.  You literally have hundreds of combinations.

You have tokens that you earn that can be used to unlock items like explosives, weapons and perks.  Treyarch has simplified the perk options now too.  Many old perks are now in the form of attachments for your weapon. You no longer have a reloading perk,  it’s now a attachment.  You also have the option now to add a wild card which will add additional perks.  You could choose 6 perks if you felt it necessary.

I have chosen to go with a single rifle with 3 full attachments, 5 perks and a grenade as my primary class.  It’s been pretty effective however I often run out of ammo and need to grab a weapon off of a kill.  I’ve been debating whether to drop a perk for a secondary gun.

Black Ops 2 has also tweaked the kill streaks by changing them to score streaks.  You can now earn a UAV, care package and hunter drone’s etc by a combination of things.  You can earn a score streak by capturing a flag, defusing bombs, planting bombs and of course getting consecutive kills etc.  I find the score streak method to be a huge improvement.

Another big change is the Prestige option doesn’t erase your stats.  Now you continue weapon and stat progress and can earn extra rewards.  You can add extra classes and spend a token to unlock a weapon earlier then your level and keep it for your entire career. This is another change that I’m excited about and expect to be in all incarnations from here on out.
