Joe Con 2013 Recap

I was not a member of the Joe club prior to deciding to attend the con and I would not consider myself a rabid fan, more of a casual collector. I loved it when I was a kid, I watched the show, read the comics and amassed as many of the toys as I could. A lot of my childhood collection came from second hand sources, but I took very good care of everything I had and still have most of it to this day.

I have come to understand I really like the card and box art and assorted materials as much or more than the actual figures, which is what drew me to the 25th figures. I still prefer the ARAH figures and vehicles to the modern stuff, even though they are doing some amazing stuff in particular with the POC and 30th lines.

I wanted to take my son with me to the con and hopefully give him an experience he would never forget. He likes Joe, and has a nice little collection of mixed ARAH and modern stuff we have picked up for him, but his interest seems to be more towards Lego and Star Wars, mainly driven by video games. (Hint, Hint Hasbro. Pull through with some KREO video games) I viewed this as a one shot deal because I doubt I would ever fly to go to a JoeCon so I wanted to spare no expense and really live it up. I have been to Wonderfest which is a sort of convention for Scifi model building a couple times but other than that, I have never been to a fan convention so I wasn’t sure what to expect.
