SDCC 2013: Day 1 News

Sideshow and Hot Toys had a showing of some sixth scale Joes of both a classic feel and for the Retaliation movie. There’s also some images floating around the net of an Uncharted Nathan Drake prototype from Sideshow. We’re hoping that our “boots on the ground” at the con will get us some good pictures of these to put up for you.

The Hasbro display was a little lacking, the Joes especially being the same old song and dance that we’ve basically seen since they revealed wave 3.5(formerly wave 4), but perhaps they’ll have something special to reveal this weekend. Probably not, but you never know. Board member Duffmann has provided some pictures, including the Night Landing Raft, which was initially a no-show. Curiously, it’s showing as available ‘Now’, so perhaps we’ll be seeing it sooner than we thought. Check out the pics in the gallery HERE!

On the Marvel front, there’s news of the Universe line being rebranded into the Avengers. It will apparently cover the same characters and articulation, but will just carry a new name. The last Marvel Universe wave is rumored to be: Omega Red, Aurora, North Star, Classic Black Knight, and X-force Repainted Nightcrawler.

Adding to the Hasbro news, NSA has posted a gallery covering the new “Black” line, as well as some of the more basic figures we’ve come to expect every time we hit the action figure aisle. For the gallery and a few words from our fearless leader, click HERE!

After the pictures of that massive NECA display we saw yesterday, we were really chomping the bit looking for more today. Now, just a few hours later, we have received those pictures, so check out the information and gallery HERE!

The biggest news of the day so far, is the hopeful peek at the Merit booth and the AV-8B Harrier prototype they said they’ll be bringing to the show. Our boots on the ground, NSA, snapped a pic of the Harrier in parts, which should be fully assembled tomorrow. We’ll DEFINITELY keep you updated as we know more.
