X Review: SDCC Bludgeon

review-history01

Bludgeon is a Pretender from the Transformers continuity. This is fitting as Pretenders are generally “inner robot, with human/monstrous outer shell”, and this figure is more than suitable for that “monstrous outer shell” that is very recognizable as Bludgeon. His first toy was introduced in 1989, and was the skull faced samurai warrior with an inner robot of a small green tank. There is a long and more detailed history HERE on the Transformers wiki.

review-background01

Bludgeon is a ferocious warrior, skilled in the ancient Cybertronian martial art of Metallikato. Utterly vicious and aloof, Bludgeon is also highly religious, adhering to an arcane code of honor.

“Arcane”, of course, is code for “bloodthirsty, murderous, sadistic, and subject to the whims of the guy holding the sword.” — Courtesy of the Transformers Wiki

From the included filecard:

Decepticon Bludgeon
Function: Interrogation & Electric Warrior Bodyguard
“To know your limits, you must first know your foe’s limits.”

A merciless, emotionless master of Metallikato, the deadly Cybertronian martial art, he attacks his enemies’ fracture points while remaining outside their line of fire. High powered antennas produce electrical fireballs with a range of over 400 yards. His battle armor secretes odorous, mucus slime. Smoke generators in his legs produce billowing clouds of black smoke that disorient the enemy. The inner robot is armed with a high-voltage electric cannon.
