Killzone: Shadow Fall Review

I’m a big Killzone fan so I was very excited for this new addition to the franchise. This is the 4th console game and the 6th game overall in the series. Shadow Fall has a very different feel than the previous installments, opting for a more stealth like approach much like a Metal Gear game. Although the game is missing a 4 after the title, it’s a follow up to the successful Killzone 3. The game starts off about 30 years after the events of Killzone 3 and you’re now in a cold war setting between the Vektans and the Helghast.

Playing the previous installments isn’t a requirement however it sure helps understanding the history of the war. You play as Lucas Kellen who is a lifelong soldier and member of the exclusive Shadow Marshal Academy. Kellen will undergo several covert ops missions battling the Helghast. Since the horrific war during the first 3 games, you’re now on Planet Vektan and the planet is separated by a massive wall, one side Helghast and the other Vektans. As Kellen, you will experience missions on both sides.

The gameplay has been improved over the previous games in the series. One of the complaints that I’ve had in the past is the clunky and sluggish feel to your character. You now have a more fluid approach and it’s a welcomed change. This is still a Killzone title and you will have dozens of high powered and futuristic weapons to use.
