2013 Banner Contest Winners

Each month had a specific theme, and while some entries appeared not to follow the motif at first glance, they were nonetheless impressive.

Without further ado, here are the winners for 2013.

January 2013 – Bring in the New Year with a Bang

“To start off 2013 the theme is to be used with an RPG, C4 or grenade explosions. There does not have to be an explosion per se as long as there is action including one or more of the weapons described. Loading up a weapon cache is acceptable too but you better put some heavy explosives in there to get votes.” – Major Blood

winner: Footloose

February 2013 – Free-for-All (no photoshop)

winner: Falcon C

March 2013 – Mixing it Up

“For March the idea is to use 3 different toy lines in the picture. This can be done with figures and vehicles. So if you use two different figure lines and a vehicle from a separate line that is ok or anything like that. When sending me the PM with your entry please tell me what lines were used for reference. Photoshop is allowed but only in explosions/muzzle flash. Smoke from a missile is acceptable too as long as it ends in an explosion.” –  Major Blood

winner: Falcon C

April 2013 – Spring Offensive

“The theme for April will be to depict a scene where there is an offensive strike happening. The object will be to show both sides and one will be the obvious aggressor. It could also be something like IED going off as long as there is the action of it exploding.” – Major Blood

winner: Falcon C

May 2013 – I Love It When a Plan Comes Together

“The theme for May is to have something with a plan being set up. It can be some suits in an office or possibly a team in a tent figuring out their next move. Even could be people pinned down trying to figure a way out. This is a no photoshop month.” – Major Blood

winner: Falcon C. This one caused some controversy as the winning photo didn’t appear to follow the theme, but we determined that Firefly’s plan was to blow up the Humvee, and of course he succeeded.

June 2013 – Movie Scene Recreation

“The theme will be to make a scene from a movie.

This can be any type of movie. Does not have to be war related but figures do have to be 1:18 scale. If you can make a vehicle or background that is not scale look it then that will be ok but the figures have to at least be scale (GI Joe, Marvel, BBI, etc….)

You must reference the scene of the movie when sending me your entry and if possible a screen shot. If you can not get a screen shot please let me know the time in the movie the scene comes up so that I can try to find it and have a reference for the photo.

No photoshop this month either. This one has to be all natural. Good luck!” – Major Blood

Winner: NSA

July 2013 – NO CONTEST

“No, the theme for July isn’t “no contest”.. there is NO contest for July!

July 4th, 2013 marks the 4th “official” anniversary of The Fighting 1:18th.

We’ve made it four consecutive years! Can you believe that? I would have put money on everything fizzling out after the first 6 months, but for some reason we’ve persevered and kept things going. Thanks to all our Officers and other members for sticking with us and keeping our community awesome!

For July, we will be doing something special with the banner, so we will not be doing a contest. The banner contests will return for August with some tweaks and additions!” – NSA
