X Review: OurWar German Machine Gunner

review-sculpt01

The sculpt is pretty similar at its core to the Commander figure, with major differences in the head sculpt and in the legs. There’s no commanding face barking orders here. Instead you have the face of a soldier who’s there to do his job, among thousands of others just like him. Like the Commander, though, the face is a little “cartoony” and less real than I would have liked. Like Rifleman B and the Assistant Gunner, the Machine Gunner has the rolled sleeves exposing the lower arms. As before, with the Rifleman and the other “grunts”, they have legs for a basic field uniform and boots to match, instead of the Commander’s jhodpurs.

A major difference here is that the webgear can be removed (CAREFULLY), giving you a stripped down version of the soldier that you could also have sitting around a German camp on a battlefield.

review-articulation01

The articulation doesn’t change from what we saw for the commander, so while I don’t have much to add here on that subject, this is not to say I’m unhappy about it. You get the “Joe-Standard” for PoA in these figures.

Head, shoulders, elbows, bend-and-swivel wrists, torso, hips, double-knees, and ankles. Plenty to get him into the poses you want. There IS some restriction in getting him to shoulder his weapon correctly, but I did manage a pretty decent prone firing position, and one knelt and using an object for the bipod to rest on.
