Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes Review

The game play and controls make Ground Zeroes a fun experience. Every button on the fantastic PS4 controller is important including the touch pad. You feel like you’re in total control and Snake is very responsive. The sound effects of Ground Zeroes add excellent value to the game. You get top notch voice acting throughout the game. I do have one major complaint. Snake is now voiced by Kiefer Sutherland and it’s just weird. I prefer David Hayter over Sutherland.

Before I give my final comments I must cover the side operations. You will unlock 5 side missions including a console exclusive. These missions are also on Camp Omega however you will have unique orders. These orders range from gaining intel from a traitor, eliminating certain targets and playing as a helicopter gunner in a rare weapons loud mission. I really enjoyed these missions as they added tons of extra replay value and helped you learn your away around the camp as a couple of them are during the day instead the raining and dark main mission.

Overall I have trouble grading Ground Zeroes because of it’s limitations however I can’t stop playing the game. Realistically the game gives you a good 12 hours of game play in order to get 100% completion rate or if you just want to play the main mission and be done, 2 hours. I enjoyed doing multiple plays trying to experience everything like collecting tapes, finding every patch and finding all the easter eggs.

Considering the reduced price of the game, great re-playability and fun open world I give Ground Zeroes a 8 out of 10. The game is available now for multiple systems. If you’re a fan of Metal Gear, this is a must play and a good warm up for the upcoming Phantom Pain.
