Anybody have any interest in the 4" Thundercats figures?

My buddy just texted me that they are only $4 at my local Walmart

The TC problem is that there are so few characters worth a damn. Once everybody gets the main four and a mummy, the rest are just novelties. I enjoyed the cartoon, but they didn't do much to make any other characters more marketable. If anything, they missed the chance to put in the other mutants to build up the enemy forces.

MOTUC is running into a similar problem. While it's had a pretty long run now, they are getting into the really obscure characters that no one gives two shakes about. I'll be stunned if that line makes it past '12.

I suppose thats why something like Star Wars and GIJOE have such longevity.. a real diverse list of characters. I don't think anything can top Star Wars.. but the Joes managed to build a sizable roster thanks to the 80's.

And Cobra can just add a new "insert gimmick here" Viper and have a new figure.

I just think it's because Bandai makes lousy figures.

no shit, Panthros legs do not move independently from one another, what were they thinking?! The swords and stuff for characters like Lion-O look flimsy as fuck. Who the hell really wants figures of Kit and Kat? AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE CHEETARA FIGURE! That figure should be known as Shitara! Tygra is the only one worth getting, and why would you only buy one character?

What a shit load of fuck.

I think kids would enjoy them, but it's clearly not a line aimed at adult collectors. The figure design and quality is obviously not on par with Joe or SW. I guess it comes down to who their target audience is/was.

The constant changing of scales doesn't help either. 4"? 8"? 6"? New show? Classic? The permutations never end. Can't build any momentum while constantly changing their minds.

I think the 8" classic figures were a miscalculation on their part.

The problem is they shrunk them but they still don't really fit with other lines.

Probably so.

When the hell does this show come back?

They've said it is coming back, but I don't think it's got a firm date yet. Not quite the death-hiatus that Renegades got, but it's clearly not a priority.

The most telling thing was that Bandai showed ZERO new thundercats product at ToyFair. Thus, one can assume that there is nothing new coming down the pipeline for at least 6-9 months, if ever. That fact is pretty damning.

Jesus, you know I didn't even notice that Toy Fair absence. I do believe you're on the right track.

Ok, so new episodes of the cartoon are coming soon! And from the previews, it appears that some of the other mutants are going to be appearing. That's good news. Of course, I'm still not optimistic about the complete lack of toy news, but this is a step in the right direction. Hopefully these aren't just leftover eps they had in the can but part of a continued push of the brand.

That is about all that figure is useful for. Bandai really fucked up that figure. I hope they don't do the same to Pumyra.

So, Bandai claims they still have the license and plans to make more toys... but we've not even seen teasers past wave 2, which has dribbled out so that most people never saw them. They clearly aren't worried about "momentum". By the time they get around to producing a third wave, people will have forgotten they exist.

Yea, the newest ones are about 12 episodes deep. It's getting a little corny lately though. Concentrating too much on Lion O wanting some Thundersnatch. They are at least keeping the story line going unlike a certain HUB show.

Ah, so his Thunderballs have dropped and he's chasing Thundertail?

Is he getting emo, too?

Not yet. He still is a fighter. They just incorporate him wanting the new tail every episode.

Can't wait until they reveal that Tygra is actually hittin' it.

Yeah I wish they would stop it with the needless love interest stuff. Is their going to be an action figure of Pumyra anytime soon? If so, are they going to fuck her legs up like they did Cheetara? Cheetara was the worst figure of the bunch because of her weird ass articulation. Will they ever make a better version of her?
