It only took me two and a half years, but I have finally completed my Blackhawk Down birds. The miniguns AVAC provided me last weekend was the final piece.

Hey! Those aren't flying! That's fish line on there! Nice try mister.

That looks cool PCS. I wish I had space for that stuff and even had half of those. Every time I see 1:18 vehicles I wonder why Hasbro still tries.

These are razor sharp, PCS.

Tell us about the mini-guns.

How long did it take you to construct the cupola/housing for them, and did you have to take the bird apart when slicing open the crew windows?

The Blackhawk miniguns are Pickelhaube's kit and I did that about a year back. It required cutting out the side windows and replacing with resin parts. Fairly straight forward, but still scary as hell to take a dremel to your +$100 helicopter. No disassembly required. I also added the two nose pods from Pickel. Highly recommended to anyone who owns a Blackhawk, Dremel and a can of green spray paint.

The miniguns I got from AVAC were for the MD-500 to match the one that strafes the roof full of skinnies.

Other than the MD 500 being wrong and using Pickelhaube 134s (;) ) i think it's pretty cool.

Dude, full of win. Love it. Someday I will finish my blackhawk(on back burner for now because of its size) and have a nice display like that.

Thanks guys, I'm loving it too. Ktig, I can't find a pic that shows the front of th MD-500s on the gun runs, but they do have the front doors on. I'm guessing it should not have the front pod? Fuck it, it's a gunship and pods look better. ;)

I turned them a bit for a better grouping:

The Army doesn't use 500s. The problem with the 500 is the TOW sight in the nose. Ya need to get another MH-6 and convert it to an AH. They've turned up in a couple of spots for 35 or so, and i may do it myself.

Bbi was wrong to make it in US markings in the first place. Should have done an IDF livery.

you answered your own question in that very same post...and lego added to it...

Hey now, that's 10 figures in the Blackhawk, 6 in the Lil Bird and 2 in the MD500 all requiring 0" of shelf or floor space. 18 figures and 3 vehicles requiring no shelf space seems very reasonable to me. It's when you turn around and see the 4ft Tomcat with 2 figures and the 3ft F-104 Starfighter with 1 figure that space becomes an issue. ;)

BTW PCS, love the work on the blackhawk(IR and Radome and miniguns in windows). Just wanted to say good work. Looks nice. I am so jealous of those JSI f-14's but that's a bg hunk to drop on a "toy". Especially when I am still unemployed. =(

The Nozzles are worth every penny Eddie and if you follow their instructions, they are easy to install. The old ones look like puckered sphincters (Eddieism).

Thanks Lego, those aircraft hanging from my ceiling represent the bulk of my freshly trimmed collection. I kept the best, mostly custom works. Pickel's Blackhawk kit transforms the flying truck into a work of art. Good stuff right there. :)

Yup. You can get the helos out in the yard and get good field shots of them.

It would not be pretty. Lots of profanities, quite possibly in more than one language, followed by weeping, gnashing of teeth and rending of hair as you tried to fix the unfixable.

I love the customs. They look very nice. Great job. I wish that I had purchased the pickelhaub stuff myself but never got around to it.
