I think the salient point is that the blue wave didn't materialize, and that the Democrats pulled defeat from the jaws of a real victory with that disgusting sham of a confirmation process with Justice Kavanaugh.

This was a draw for both parties, when it could have been a win for either.

Yeah, that is true as well. If the left couldn't muster a huge win now, with Trump causing SO MUCH angst on their side.. that's not a good look. BUT.. if they can milk their half win for 2 years and then get a compelling candidate for Pres in 2020, they're looking alright.

So if you believe the latest Q posts, Trump achieved his main goal: to shore up the Senate. Apparently that is where the important work toward current goals is to be done. That is backed up by Trump's campaign stops in the final days. All but one (rally for the governorship in GA) in November included Senate candidate rallies.

And yes, the GOP led House was dismal. The Senate was at least quietly appointing judges and (more recently, loudly) Justices. Together they passed tax reform, but, thanks to John McCain, failed to deal with Obamacare. So, yeah, not that much of a loss, nor a departure from many Presidents prior.

Whether the dem House can accomplish anything (even slow Trump down on anything not requiring a spending bill) will remain to be seen. If all they want is to witch hunt and try to impeach - well, two years of investigation has found pretty much nothing at all, so? With the RINOs, they had already gridlocked much of the President's agenda (the wall comes to mind), so, yeah, more of the same I suppose.

That is some serious perspective right there. If Trump had held the House, it would have been pretty much unprecedented. The only time recently that it went the other way was after 9/11 as I recall.

Is she more or less native american than Elizabeth Warren (who also won)?
Well, she at least looks the part.
Also, to my previous point:

And how many of those ~45 seats might we have retained if they hadn't been held by never-Trumpers or pussies who bought into "Blue Wave" bullshit, and who didn't have the testicular fortitude to fight it out? Not that they were doing their jobs in the first place, with that RHINO cuckold Paul Ryan running things.

Fun fact, Trump went 9 for 11 on candidates he went out and backed, while Saint Barrak went 0 for 4.

I don’t know how they expect reasonable, intelligent people to buy off on that garbage platform though. Sure, you get all the whackadoodles, but there has to be way more than enough decent folks left out there to push this lunacy to the trash heap where it belongs.

Yeah, that’s a puzzler. I’m hoping that, at some not too distant point in the future, this crap hits critical mass and the pendulum begins heading back in a more rational direction. It should be different when DJT is actually on the ballot. The turnout will be much higher and he’ll be certain to point out the lunacy at every opportunity.

Speaking of lunacy, I’m really hoping that our baby-killer governor bows to the PC pressure from his own party and soon. It would be no less than poetic justice if he has to leave for a racist yearbook picture. He’s unfit to lead a potty brigade.

Did you see this vid on said topic? I find it hilarious and telling that his resignation is being called for due to a decades old pic compared to wanting to terminate a baby AFTER IT'S BORN. :wtf:

Yeah, I expect a slew of Colorado republicans to file suit against such a stupid rule. By this logic, a candidate could win the state in a massive landslide, and the electoral votes would go to someone else. This just isn't right no matter how you slice it. If they want to divvy them up based on popular vote within the state, then sure, but just going with the flow seems like a poor choice.

The law of unintended consequences is that no one will ever campaign there (unless the population booms substantially), they will effectively not be represented directly, and they're going to render themselves irrelevant. I know they're trying to start a movement, one that is their only shot of effectively doing away with the electoral college (knowing they'd never get an amendment passed), but I think it's going to come back to bite them.

I don't understand why they simply wouldn't raise property taxes, as it's essentially the same thing. But it's insidious how the local governments can weasel money out of people with little or no say. My grandfather was a successful local businessman, and he often spoke about how local elections were the most important, as those were the ones that "can get into your pocket the easiest."

I'm looking at Cali as the cautionary tale for local gov't run amok.

Here ya go. It's 11 states trying to subvert the electoral college.

https://trueconservativepundit.com/2019/02/06/democrats-illegally-subverting-the-constitution-to-destroy-the-electoral-college-guaranteeing-there-will-never-be-a-republican-president-again/

The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC) is an associated group of eleven states and the District of Columbia – with one goal in mind, destroying the Electoral College. Instead of the Electoral College, which was set up via the Constitution by the way, presidential elections would be decided by the popular vote instead. These states that belong to the compact have decided that their states votes would all go to whoever wins the popular vote. Ten more states have legislation pending to join the NPVIC.

It's just handing the elections to Cali and NY's population centers. Oh boy.

The silver lining is that after a few states get railroaded, it won't take a constitutional amendment for swing states to roll it back. The ultra liberal states won't walk it back, but they weren't going to vote republican ever again anyway.

True. I hear of lots of honeypotting going on as well, though I guess that plays into the blackmail part.

In the future I wonder if politicians won't be able to be blackmailed. Nearly every kid has done something degenerate.
- "I got pics of you sucking 10 dicks at the same time so you better play ball!"
- "Well, duh, I posted those on Twitter. Besides, I have pics of you getting rammed by a donkey while snorting coke off of a hooker."
- "Yeah, I shared those. Hahaha."
- "Well, okay then. I have pics of you talking to an evil white man!"

I don't remember what I was watching but I was wondering.. how does anything ever get done? Couldn't rich/powerful/dangerous people blackmail or threaten anyone/everyone to get what they want?

Us small potatoes.. no one really cares about us so no won bothers.. but what if they did? What if you got a letter stating that if you didn't do "X" they'd kill 3 family members, or ruin your business.. or.. whatever. Like, sure, you could fight, or blow them off or whatever.. but then what if they went through with it? I kind of wonder why it doesn't happen to everyone in power..
