As I was playing for 35 minutes on my lunch hour today I realized something else missing.. where the hell is the AA?

In Wildlands you had fucking SAM's all over the place so you had to be careful where you went and how you did it.. and here.. there's nothing. I can fly from one end of the island to the other and nothing ever bothered to mess with me. Worst case scenario you fly over someone and they get suspicious but by the time they do anything you're long gone.

In Wildlands you had SAM's, you would frequently come across UNIDAD helo's in the sky or Cartel helo's guarding the convoys.. so you had to pick your battles or avoid.. now I can just fly a straight line from A to B on autopilot and not worry about anything. The closest thing I've seen is the Behemoths which will shoot at you, but only if you linger long enough for them to notice and lock onto you.

It's this kind of "Why break what wasn't broken" nonsense that really grinds my gears. I would like there to be dangerous areas where you need skill to evade.. or.. something.
You are goddamn right. You’d think they’d have AA drones or something.

As for the SAM sites. They’re there but there’s only a few. The DLC added a base with like 5 of them. Whatever happened to traditional AA guns?

But everything is smart these days!!

You are goddamn right. You’d think they’d have AA drones or something.

Yeah.. Even if they were like a super huge one that kind of loitered over the area, you had to evade them either by staying away or flying nap of the earth (which exposes you to ground fire).

I wouldn't want them everywhere but at least in the allegedly highly secure areas. It could be fun if they roamed around too. Provide some random change aspect.

I mean the Phalanx is still used today and they’ve outfitted them for land purposes too.

They need AA emplacements, trucks and armor with different weapons platforms. I mean they only have 3 different trucks with the same useless mini gun. The armored vehicle never shows and the light armor truck with a light cannon is never used. I wish they had another behemoth that will spawn on patrol but carries an AA gun or SAM, not just fire when fired upon. This game needs tanks and light armor.

I was actually legitimately surprised when Ilsa or whatever her name is came at me in the ATTACK HELO in the programmer mission. I'd never seen one actually flying around. I bet I'll never see one flying around again either.

Can we talk about how bad the mini-gun is in the game? It was similarly trash in Wildlands. Is it shooting spitballs? It takes a while to spin up.. but has zero accuracy and takes like 3-5 hits to even kill someone. Such a joke. It takes forever to take down a little bird or really anything.

It's like they bothered to create all the pieces, they just didn't do any of the effort to put them in play.

I haven’t played in awhile.

I occasionally pop into a reddit to see if there are any worthwhile updates coming. If they’re using our feedback to guide what improvements need to be made, we are screwed. Most of the gripes are stupid.

“If only we could have the option of combining a laser with a flashlight on the side rail”

“If only”.

I just don’t get these cosmetic freaks. The game has a shit ton of flaws, but having both a laser and a flashlight in a game that, atmospherically speaking, doesn’t need it, shouldn’t be what makes or breaks your experience. I mean I feel like most of these people would find more enjoyment playing World of Guns on Steam than actually playing it.

Yeah I keep meaning to go back but have no real desire to. I want to finish the story just to say I did it.

I don't even know what I want right now outside of the squad back together. I can't see a way for them to 'patch' fun back into the game.

supposedly we're getting AI teammates in July. I don't know how that's going to work with an already broken AI system. I assume they are just going to keep shooting me.

Yeah I saw that.. I hope it works right. As long as they have some squad banter I'll be happy. I kind of doubt they went back and recorded all that dialog.. but I can hope. I wonder how it will work since one of your guys dies in the beginning and the others are spread over the map.

Heres hoping they do it right.. but I am not super hopeful.

It will be nice to not be totally alone roaming around though, that was one of the biggest things that bugged me.

The long awaited AI teammates are joining Nomad’s rank in the next TU. Teammates can be activated and deactivated from the lobby menu, and all of them can be customizable from the same menu.

  • Regroup – Teammates come back to the players.
  • Go To – Teammates go to a designated position.
  • Cleared Hot – Teammates engage with enemy, seeking cover nearby.
  • Hold Position – Teammates go to the closest cover and stick to their position.
To learn more about the AI Teammates, check out our deep dive article.

Basically what I said. I played enough to complete the live event and I haven’t gone back.
It does feel better doing human Ai sync shots instead of drone Sync shots

I played briefly and unfortunately did not notice my team chatting.
Yeah. They just say good shot and remind you to put on a suppressor while you’re taking it off because you’re about to unload on some peeps

Man! The squad banter was the best/worst thing about wildlands. I remember in the beginning there was a bug where you'd get stuck and it'd play the same phrases over and over again.. and it was so annoying.. but then I got used to it, and their shit was comforting.

You kind of felt like each member was unique because their banter brought out their personality. It also added a little legitimacy in how they commented on the various things going on with the setting. You felt like a stranger to that country which worked in developing the life of the place.

Absolutely.. you didnt know or trust anyone else, but you knew those three had your back. Even if it was just fake banter, it worked to immerse you in the world. You didn't really trust Bowman even.

And they would talk to each other about crap, even if you've heard the same thing 50 times before, it still made it feel like you were crossing the countryside with some buddies. Sigh.

Online play with Wildlands was amazing and I did it about 50% of the time (with no AI) and talking with friends is way better of course.. but it is hard to schedule times and get that all rolling, so it seems retarded that they removed all of the AI stuff from release.

Episode 2 can be done separately, I think. It’s basically Splinter Cell. I don’t know if Episode 3 unlocks until after. I would assume you have to finish the main story as that is a direct continuation of it.

I booted up the game last night and was sad to see the new update isn't coming till the 9th! Drat! Poor reading comprehension for the L.

Since I was booted up anyway, I decided to give it a go, as I don't think I've played it for 1 or 2 updates. Everything was mostly the same. The squad is nice, but still doesn't feel as organic as in Wildlands, but it's a step in the right direction.

I powered through 3 or 4 of the 'main' story missions so I can move onto EP2 and EP3. It's fine.. the story is still one of the weakest part. SO MANY go do this, come all the way back here to talk to someone, ok go do that. I always try to play without fast travel to make things more realistic.. but in this game I gave up and just zoom all over the place to get the mission done.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE in games like Elder Scrolls or RDR2 or even Wildlands where you'd run into "emergent" scenarios while crossing the map, it made it feel and engaging and kept you on your toes. Even something as simple as running across a UNIDAD vs Rebels vs Cartel fight felt like it was earned.

Still in Breakpoint you can drive around and not really enounter much other than patrols and some random civvies. Wish there were animals or something like Far Cry since the island is so massive

My whole thing is while I’m not an expert on Bolivian culture, Bolivia felt like a real life country in Wildlands. It goes a long way for the experience. This place just feels neutered.

I’m glad they changed the raid. I just hope the landscape’s more interesting than it was.
I think the raid would work better if you could do all of those lead up boss missions solo, and then when you fight a boss to unlock the next sector, that’s when you match up with other players. Jericho can say something to make it sound like the other players did other missions up to that point to engage the boss.

In terms of add on stuff. I don’t think new guns ever added anything and the majority of the cosmetics are kind of lame.

The world is sterile, the main missions are stupidly long and you have no choice but to fast travel, but they have made it enjoyable to me now. The squad is everything to me apparently.

The thing I liked about the squad in Wildlands was the back and forth during chopper rides. These characters are just stiff

Agreed, the banter is missed even if you heard the same joke 50 times. Having the squad to revive you, sync shot, spot enemies and man the turrets is the critical part to me.

Going up the lava shield with the dark setting and taking on the behemoth was nice.

getting in the only chopper on the island afterwards as a reward to fly for a closer look at the volcano and instant dying was not.

Haven't been over to that island yet.

Darkest Night mode IS nice, it's still not exceptionally dark though, at least on my TV. May need to tweak my settings.

Got my Series X setup and played Breakpoint all day yesterday with a friend, we started new characters and just played through the story. It was fun with another human! It is still missing that 'something' that made Wildlands exceptional, but it's now fully fleshed out and can be fun to play.

It runs like absolute butter on the Series X though.. I guess they did a performance patch, because it feels way more responsive now, load times are quick too.
