Lucky! (although you look a little green there)

How was it?
Long story on why I looked like that, was supposed to be a flight at 11am end up waiting from 9am till 4pm in ready room due to airshow schedule going off tangent (partly due to Royal Thai Air Force gripen getting late up to air then the Russian Knights overrode ground control and turn a 15 min performance into a 45min display) , finally recleared for the flight at around 4.15pm and in jet on tarmac for an hour due to need to allow civilian airliners to land (this was at Langkawi Island - which is a beach resort) plus a Royal Malaysian Air Force F-18, was a 45min flight and intense due to pressure etc (more so when you not trained for it) but still great, sadly flight regulations did not allow me to take a camera along, got to play with the radar systems though.

I'm glad it worked out for you though, despite the delay and the trauma to your system. Unless they are a highly trained fighter pilot or athlete, I'm sure that everybody who gets a ride in a high performance aircraft like that feels it hard afterwards (and for most probably during as well). Still a once in a lifetime experience! Congrats!

Dude! I went to Aruba for my honeymoon. Loved it there! Where do you stay?

Cookoo Kanooku (did I spell that wrong?)
Hmm...not sure that place exists any longer. We've been there for the past 8 years in a row and I've never heard of that place and we really get around. How long ago did you go?

The past 2 years we've stayed at a new place...Blue Residences. We love it! It's so new and unknown that we very very rarely see any other guests. We get the pools all to ourselves. Though, we hardly use them since we go there for the beaches. Every other year we've stayed at a different place. They all have their pros and cons.

Here's me and my girls.

Nice! Jane's is awesome. Do you do much with aviation?
A little as bulk of it done by the guys in UK and US as that's where things are, I'm mainly a country correspondent (on my own country) for Janes and for other publications I write on regional developments along with attending defence exhibitions and air shows in Malaysia and neighboring Singapore. There's a bunch of pics of my various work assignments along with social activites such as ship receptions (including a carrier or two), along with some other stuff here at my moby picture account, select grid view for the easiest way to go through them photos, videos and audio from Dzirhan Mahadzir (DzirhanDefence) on Mobypicture

Daw.

Went up to Baywood Park Beach this weekend for my company's 25th anniversary dinner.

Haven't been out in nature in a while so it was pretty refreshing. What little time we spend there.

And then we hit a Renaissance Faire in Simi Valley our friends were working at on the way back

Yeah. But I'm too lazy/not enough of a narcissist to edit pictures of myself (unless it's a cosplay photo and very minimally). Actually I kind of like that one, so maybe I will? lol

Went for my first helicopter ride ever yesterday. Wife bought it for my 40th. I got to fly for a bit too, though it felt like when your parents used to let you take the wheel when you were a kid.

Being in a copter is so cool. You feel a bit like a a bug, hovering along.

That's awesome! What did you see/tour, or were you just joyriding?

I'll never forget my first helicopter ride... I was about 10, and my dad wanted some aerial photos of some property he was thinking of buying to develop. This was 30+ years ago..... before drones and google earth. So he rented the chopper that the TV stations used for traffic, and a professional photographer to shoot the gig. We go up in this thing with the door open, 'Nam style, and the pilot just turns the thing on it's side and circles the property. I'm just sitting there watching, just turning my head to the left and looking straight down at the earth for fifteen minutes.... like a noisy, windy glass bottom boat... without the glass. It was awesome as a kid, but looking back, I could have fallen out of that bitch! WTF Dad?!

Then I got a proper ride about ten years ago when my wife and I went to hawaii and we got a full tour of the big island, volcanoes and all. Very cool.

I enjoyed both rides, but I came away convinced that if I spent much time in those things, as a pilot or passenger, it would result in an early death.

I finally got my Masters in Public Administration. Now I just need to figure out what to do with it.
Congratulations! Now get out there and don't be a leach on society like so many others. :lmao:

...This was 30+ years ago...
30+ years ago was so much less safe and fun. :D

We just did a Christmas light tour. There is this one city where the whole downtown strip completely cover the faces of their buildings with lights. Each store picks a color and wallpapers their building. It's super cool.

My wife happeneed to be there the night before for a work X-mas party.

My dad used to be a pilot so we did may airplane and a few helicopter rides. This was waaaaaaaay before 9/11.

I only remember two.

One was an airplane ride to another state for a funeral (early 80's...that was a long, boring ride). I remember having to pee so bad that I went in one of those air-sickness bags and wanting to throw it out the window to see what would happen.

The other was delivering Santa Claus by helicopter to a town not far from my actual home (early to mid 70's), so it was a VERY short ride...but Santa sealed that one in my head forever. Although I don't remember much for that one, I must have been really small and either scared to ask him to many questions or simply told not to run off at the mouth while we were flying.
Probably the latter, knowing my dad.

Finally able to go on that hot air balloon ride for our anniversary. A couple weeks late waiting on the weather to cooperate, but it. Was. Awesome! As ghey as this sounds, it was very magical feeling. Fantastical. Unreal. Voyeuristic.

Kind of pricey, but I highly recommend experiencing it at least once in your life.

Heh. I was terrified that I would. I even had it extended out on a selfie stick. Talk about a white knuckle grip. I waited until we were over an unpopulated area juuuuuust in case. And it was an actual camera, so I was extra worried.

I thought it might be, knowing your aversion to mildly intelligent phones... and a selfie stick? Oh, Eddie...

Had to track down an emoticon for that one... :D
