I read you. My kids love Star Wars, at least partially due to TFA and TLJ. Meanwhile, I can hardly stand to watch them (I typically need to add some rum). But, it makes me happy to see them enjoying them, and reminds me of my infatuation with the OT back in the day. Though it was never as big for me as GI Joe.

As for TF, if my daughters (or son for that matter) really wanted to see this one, I'd take them, but I won't be promoting it. After all, I did go see Jurassic World 2 with my son, and enjoyed it about as much as I expected to, and not nearly as much as he did.

I don't think I even saw the last one.. last two? (Googles) Okay, I didn't see Apocalypse I guess.

I liked First Class and Days of Future past for the most part.

I guess this one is coming too? Horror Xmen?

Really they should have just let it go with LOGAN. Let them breathe for a couple years and integrate them with the MCU. I guess they didn't know the Disney deal was going to happen.. but still..

I don't know if it's the actual material or just the handling of films/shows, but there are no superhero related characters that I care about less than mutants/X-stuff. While I've been somewhat entertained through the years, I find it all rather boring.

The us vs them dynamic isn't fun at all. It's heavy. I don't want to be told to feel sympathy for heroes, I want to be shown why I should be amazed by them.

LOGAN not Wolverine!

And yeah, I guess so, they left it open for sure, but I don't feel like it was a set-in-stone thing to continue with that time-line/continuity. Getting the kids to 'safety' seemed like the cut & dry end to the movie.

Of course they could do a story where they come back and invade from Canada and take over the world as new Canadian Villains.. Eh!

Except that its not a government op its a private company so the border does really mean shit. Those kids are still being hunted, ain't nothing safe about their situation. Stupid Hollywood logic.

Black Manta looks beyond awesome. Even the classic Aquaman costume looks good aside from DCs costume designers insistence on metallic finishes.

But the movie as a whole...the underwater parts most notably...YIKES! So awfully CGI-y

I’m sorry, I just can’t. DC hasn’t earned my trust remotely enough for me to take... *snicker* Aquaman seriously... Ant-man and Guardians stretched my interest enough, but Marvel had earned that prior.

Yeah, their reputation is irreparably ruined, at least as far as the DCU is concerned. You can buy a quality film, but you can't buy consumer trust. Consider the auto industry. There are people that will NEVER buy Brand X ever again because of one or two bad experiences. That's the DCU. Stinker after stinker mixed amongst nonstop terrible big wig decisions. People are rightfully done with DC/WB. They are absolute fools for not starting from scratch BvS and JL. WW can't carry the franchise no matter how much GIRL POWER! she has.

"But, but, we have big name actors and CGI!"

Hostiles with Christian Bale. Though it isn't an action movie, and I knew it wasn't....I was expecting more.

The whole thing started out with a few soldiers and one lone woman all having reasons to hate native Indians. The soldiers are escorting a family, and the chief of the family was some big warrior that killed lots of people. The head soldier (Bale) also had his time killing scores of natives....and supposedly they know each other. Slowly they "come to terms" with each other, learn to respect and love one another. There was a pack of separate natives that were involved harassing the troop and their charges, but they bit the dust pretty early on. Then there's a white gang they have to take out. It's like at first it was almost a big apology to the native Americans. The group hated each other and both sides did bad things, then the group gets harassed by both natives AND white people....so it's as if they were saying "hey, we both suck."

The thing I got to thinking about while watching Hostiles was, do you think back then, anyone had any sympathy for the native Americans like was portrayed by a few characters in that movie?

I want to say "no", but how would I know. From what I've learned in history, we did our best to either kill them or convert them to our way of life and culture, thereby obliterating their own identity, and take all of their land in the process. Hell, look at Custer. People think he was some kind of hero but the assbag killed women and children!

Doesn't sound like there were very many sympathetic people around.

You'd be surprised, actually. Did it do much good in the overall scheme of things? Not really. The Myth of the Noble Savage is a lie, and atrocities were committed by all parties involved. That's warfare, sad to say.

You want to be disappointed in your country? Read up on how they awarded TWENTY Medals of Honor to participants of the Wounded Knee Massacre.

I saw that. I was pretty surprised that those guys actually rode in on horses to do business. Normally I would have scoffed at such a thing, but it's supposed to be based on true events.

Reminds me of...and I know this may sound silly....of the old Van Halen video for "Right now", there was a line that popped up on screen that said, "right now, our government is doing things to people that we think only other governments do". Holds true for pretty much our entire history, not just right now. It's a bit dillusional for people to say "we live in the greatest country on earth!". But of course if you point that out, you'd be told to leave if you don't like it.

Reminds me of a movie quote, "As a species we are fundamentally insane."

Yowza.. me thinks they're going to work in whatever changes they're making to the DCU.
Yup.
Super excited to announce that, thanks to the changing landscape, we are able to put Wonder Woman back to its rightful home. June 5, 2020. Be there or be square!!!
So an additional 7? 8? months? What is its "rightful home"? Summer month?
