Only mild issue I saw was that they were depicting the HIV infected as sympathetic lepers (takes place in the early 1980's). I certainly remember the lepers part being not too far off. Everybody was paranoid when AIDS showed up, so that wasn't blatantly false. It just presented them simply as innocent victims w/o agency of their own to make good choices or bad ones that led to the rapid spread of AIDS within certain communities.

It also presented patient zero of a particular infection as probably the only white guy within hundreds of square miles living on what appeared to be a colonial homestead somewhere in Kenya. Could it have been? Sure. Was he just the first one that made it out to try to get help? Possibly. But I dunno. Seems like the odds would have been pretty high. They explain it as being because he visited some place where he acquired it, so... maybe. But I can't imagine a whitey being the first guy to acquire any infection anywhere in Africa, except perhaps in South Africa.

Otherwise, pretty strong on the science, with a huge dash of drama, but not much propaganda that I recognized. Maybe a 2 - 3 for normal Hollywood bias, and the typical "big corporations are always bad." But so far, certainly worth the watch. Although, as a germophobe, it makes you cringe sometimes, particularly some stuff that's done by so called experts. But, then again, that's all part of the plot...

Shit, I forgot this was coming on. I did a project based on that book in school, ebola is scary shit.
Yes, yes it is. And they nicely depict how easily it could rapidly take hold here if ever let off the chain, even for a split second. Makes me a little concerned knowing who has control of it and other known civilization killers.

If, but I should say when, one of the more virulent strains of Ebola (Zaire being the one with the highest kill percentage, if I recall correctly) mutates to become airborne, it is gonna make the black deaths of the middle ages look like a joke.

The Frenchman that became "patient zero" died of Marburg, (similar to the big E), that he likely picked up in the Kitum Cave.

Chernobyl. Watching this is just....so dark. You can read about it, but when you "see" it, it's just so grim. I vaguely remember when this happened, but no one around me seemed especially worried, so I wasn't. I've done some reading on the subject recently and it seems the portrayal is pretty spot on. I have to say that the Russians penchant for keeping secrets almost monumentaly fucked us all up.

Are they presenting it as more of a worldwide threat? We always knew it had serious regional consequences, but considered it limited to Ukraine and adjacent countries, maybe Europe at worst.

The initial "fire", even though they buried it under tons of boron and sand, was still hot enough to melt all that and create it's own "lava" and in turn would burn through the concrete and hit the water tanks under it....and then hit the water table in the ground....both of which would have created a second thermal explosion BIGGER than the first explosion, which I think they said would render most of Russia a dead-zone, and would have made the global problem even bigger with migrating fall-out and radiation movement. Thankfully they drained the tanks and then dug a tunnel under all that and impregnated the ground with liquid nitrogen to stop it from moving further.

Yeah, it’s really compelling. I watched 2 thru 4 last night and was ready to keep going all night.

Not sure why anyone would find it politically motivated. It’s interesting to see how the Party constantly got in the way and postponed any good decisions until the rest of the world picked up on the fallout.

There is that one guy....Skarsgard...his character summed it up, "You're trying to humiliate a country that's obsessed with NOT being humiliated."

Caught the Hot Zone marathon today. Am I the only who thinks it sounds like a porn? Not bad. Stretched out over six hours though?

Anyway, saw this yesterday and just laughed. https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/20...ter-illegals-from-congo-cross-border-into-us/

How in the heck are illegals getting from a continent not at all connected to the Americas?? Who is moving them and who is spreading the message "Open borders in the US! Free everything once you get there!"?

Oh geezze. Now the plague. https://www.dailywire.com/news/47888/bubonic-plague-likely-already-present-los-angeles-joseph-curl?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=dwbrand

I mean, they put it on a service you have to pay for. What did they expect to happen? Fools.

On regular TV I would've watched. The design of ST looked outstanding and the horror'ish aspect looked kind of interesting.
