YAY! More walkers!

Zombies Returning To The Forefront In 'THE WALKING DEAD' Season 4 Along With Mother Nature

"The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman talks more about Season 4, states that while Season 3 focused on human antagonists the new season starting in October puts Walkers back in the spotlight. But there's also a new threat, mother nature.

There are new reports surfacing that "The Walking Dead" Season 4 will feature a new, faster, more deadly type of Walker that will plague Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his merry band of survivors. We'll have to wait and see whether or not this new super-zombie rumor actually pans out but showrunner and comic book creator Robert Kirkman admits that where Season 3 shifted focus away from zombies and thrust it upon The Governor (David Morrisey), zombies will once again return as a serious threat to the group's survival. Said Kirkman on Season 4,"There is a considered effort towards reminding people just how big of a threat the zombies truly are." He continued, "I don't think we ever truly got away from that, but we did shift our focus to a human antagonist in Season 3. In Season 4, we are definitely focusing on the zombies, showing them as a clear threat, and bringing them back to the forefront to a certain extent. They will be a very present, huge danger that everyone will have to deal with". Kirkman goes on to discuss that Season 4 will continue to also have human antagonists but he adds that there's another adversary being thrown into the mix, Mother Nature. "We are bringing in another threat, which is nature itself," said the comic book creator. Careful not to give away spoilers, he continued, "I don't really want to get into specifics too much, but I will say that there is a third uncontrollable, almost undefeatable threat that is going to come in when the characters of the show are at their most vulnerable. It's really going to be something that they have a hard time dealing with."

In looking at that particular region of the US, it's hard to pin down exactly what weather phenomenon Kirkman is referring to. It could be a drought which affects the group's ability to grow food. Or it could be a tornado, although in light of the recent tragedy in Oklahoma, I doubt the show will go in that direction. It could also very well be the opposite of a drought, a never ending downpour, which forces the survivors to contend with the threat of flooding. Honestly, there could be a number of other natural phenomenons that could plague the prison community, your guess is as good as mine. Whatever it may be, lets just hope it brings some pulse-pounding drama along with it.

He was from Woodbury...that's about all I remember.

On the show, he's not from Woodbury, is an Army Medic...dark past (no pun intended).

About all I know.

So is Tyrese(sp) getting the axe then? Since this show can't have 2 black male characters at the same time.

Don't remember ol' Bob. Don't see Tyreese going anywhere this season.

The lack of actual battlesights on their weapons explains why they miss everything but walkers on that show most of the time... Sorry, pet peeve...

It would be interesting if they were to make the walkers' normal lethargy evolve into desperation and frenzy if they can't find food for extended time. Like maybe they could berserk out right before the would start to starve/die or something.

Calling it now. Tyreese's sister buys the farm, and they move his "wolverine" scene into the outdoors. Looks like most of their Woodbury refugees are gonna be KIAs, too.

Wonder who the zombie-feeder is.....

Tyreese looked pretty fucked. Though doubt they would put that much of a spoiler in the trailer.

I have a weird feeling they'll try to be "ballsy" this season and off one of the fan favorites. I'm thinking Glenn or Daryl, but it could also be Maggie or Herschel. Not that I want either, but for some reason I think that after having such a "safe" season last year, even with nixing a "core" season 1 cast member like Lori, that they'll try to really shake things up.

I'm hoping it's not Daryl, because he's such a fucking badass, but it's something stupid they'd do for shock/ratings.

I think Carl and Rick are safe for a few more seasons, but wouldn't put it past them to off at least Carl before the series wraps. It wouldn't be unheard of to kill off Rick, but I think that's really, really low on the priorities list.

For some reason, I think Carol may step up as the resident female badass with Michonne, and Tyreese is likely safe for at least a season or 2.

Wonder if they'll pull the "crazy kid" storyline into this season? Carl seems to have a new pal from Woodbury...

Oh it wasn't a "WTF" as in "IT WON'T WORK" it was a "WTF" as in "HOLY SHIT MORE ZOMBIEZZZ" reaction.

Yeah, I think it could actually be cooler in a lot of ways. Fuck, just let Daryl leave the show and lead his own series. If the main show lost Daryl like that, then hell yeah. Let him disappear tomorrow and pick up in a year in his own series.

But without the limitations of having to (somewhat) stick to the already-beloved comic characters like Glenn, Rick, Michonne, etc. we could get all-new characters who don't have to have the "anchor" who are off limits to dying, like Rick or Michonne.

Of course, the downside could be that people simply don't give a fuck about the characters, but I think if there's a little bit of crossover, with the same general pacing and threat, that it could kick ass. And yeah, it'd be nice to see what the Zombie Apocalypse was like in Hawaii, or Boston, or Texas, etc.

Fucking Australia. Mad Max meets TWD meets... Fled's worst nightmare.
Could be awesome, or we could find out that Australia's hell-spawned fauna are just as hazardous to zombie health as they are to ours!

Wish I hadn't watched the preview...they revealed too much :(
I figured they'd post it on the OnDemand menu, but I forgot we don't have Comcast anymore... Fucking AT&T U-Verse doesn't have AMC in their OnDemand channel lineup. Luckily, I set our DVR to record the new season (and Talking Dead, too) so I won't miss them coming up. (I used to just use the OnDemand listings so I didn't fill up our DVR drive, but TWD is worth it.)

Wish I could've caught the preview though. :(
