2012 Officer Club Recap

Each new year several media outlets take time to revisit the previous year sharing the good the bad and the ugly. During the final few months of 2012 I considered the idea of creating a year in review editorial or even a type of awards for the site. As I was tossing around ideas I decided to focus my attention to one of the greatest features of the site.  What I’m going to discuss is one of the most asked about sections of the forum.  Several members both old and new are curious about it’s perks and what really goes on in what we call the Officers Club. The purpose of the Officers Club is to help offset some of the  site’s yearly cost so we can remain 100% corporate advertisement free.  We have always felt that accepting money from ... Read More »

February Banner Contest

It’s that time of the Month again! Wait.. what? Oh.. right.. The theme for the February Banner Contest is Free For All with No Photoshop Here is a quote from Banner Contest runner Major Blood: “Did not think of anything good so it’s a free for all for the second month of the year.  No photo shop though so you all will have to raw dog it.” The Monthly Banner Contest has been one of the most successful and favorite features here on the Fighting 1:18th.  The contest started on our original site before the infamous crash of 2011.  For those that are new to the contest,  it’s very simple.  A forum member can submit a dio picture entry into the contest.  Towards the end of the month we place all the photos together and let the forum members vote for their favorite ... 2012 Fighting118th Toy Exchange Recap

The Holidays are over!  No matter which ones you do or don’t celebrate,  one common theme is to show your love and appreciation through gifts.  Here at the Fighting118th it’s no different.  Every year we celebrate the Holiday season with the annual Fighting118th Toy Exchange and this past season was another successful event.  First we would like to give a big thank you to everyone who supported and participated in the event.  We enjoy having a smaller and closer community than the average site and it’s always fun to be able to put together a event like the Toy Exchange.  Second we want to give a thank you to Admin Major Blood for his efforts in hosting and organizing the event.  The Toy Exchange had a decent turnout and almost everybody received their gift by the deadline. Like last year many of the gifts were G.I.Joe ... Read More »

Marvel Universe Professor X

The much desired Marvel Universe Professor X has hit retail!  Professor X uses the same mold as the 2009 SDCC exclusive James McCullen figure that was available only at the convention in a 2 Pack with another Destro/McCullen figure.  Ever since the McCullen figure has been announced,  collectors have wanted the figure not only because it’s a great looking figure but for all of the custom possibilities.  With the rarity and short supply of the figure not to mention the cost,  the McCullen figure hasn’t been customized as much as collectors wanted too.  Several G.I.Joe lines have come and gone since the release of the exclusive suited figure and collectors have continued to ask Hasbro for a mass retail release of the mold with no response. Finally it was announced some time ago that a Professor X figure was coming to retail using the same ... Read More »

January Banner Contest

It’s that time of the Month again! Wait.. what? Oh.. right.. The theme for the January Banner Contest is Bring in the new year with a bang Here is a quote from Banner Contest runner Major Blood: “To start off 2013 the theme is to be used with an RPG, C4 or grenade explosions. There does not have to be an explosion per say as long as there is action including one or more of the weapons described.  Loading up a weapon cache is acceptable too but you better put some heavy explosives in there to get votes.” The Monthly Banner Contest has been one of the most successful and favorite features here on the Fighting 1:18th.  The contest started on our original site before the infamous crash of 2011.  For those that are new to the contest,  it’s very simple.  A forum ...
